In Ava’s dreams, her son, Noah, looks just the way she remembers him: a sweet two-year-old in rolled-up jeans and a red sweatshirt. When Ava wakes, the agonizing truth hits her all over again. Noah went missing two years ago, and his body has never been found. Almost everyone, including Ava’s semi-estranged husband, Wyatt, assumes the boy drowned after falling off the dock near their Church Island home. Ava has spent most of the past two years in and out of Seattle mental institutions, shattered by grief and unable to recall the details of Noah’s disappearance.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    A deaf person

What was most disappointing about Lisa Jackson’s story?

Lead character is whiny and weak. Jackson's attempt to make her sympathetic falls short. Normally love her books and buy regardless of review.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Christina Traister?

Anyone. Including my 4 year old niece! Will remember this narrators name and be sure to stear clear of all books she performs any role in.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Extreme disappointment

    Any additional comments?

I can never leave a book, even a bad one, left unfinished. The narration was so bad I actually got book on kindle to finish reading it. Might have like story more if I had just read it. Please save yourself the headache, if you are a die hard Jackson fan skip this audio production and read it!

.Lucas Davenport has seen many terrible murder scenes. This is one of the worst. In the small Minnesota town of Deephaven, an entire family has been killed - husband, wife, two daughters, dogs. There’s something about the scene that pokes at Lucas’s cop instincts - it looks an awful lot like the kind of scorched-earth retribution he’s seen in drug killings sometimes. But this is a seriously upscale town, and the husband was an executive vice president at a big bank. It just doesn’t seem to fit.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have recommended this book to several friends. I am a big fan of the prey series. This book had several twists and kept me engrossed (and at times on the edge of my seat). If you LIKE Sandford you will LOVE this book.

What about Richard Ferrone’s performance did you like?

He was a good narrator... Not the best but he kept a good pace and his character voices were pretty believable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Some of the details of the crimes committed in this book turned my stomach a bit...

    Any additional comments?

Set aside some time to listen to this book becaused it is hard to turn it off!
