The police storyline was boring, the young-love storyline was ridiculous, and the performance was the worst I've encountered yet. I have been a fan of this series for years but I wish I hadn't wasted my money.
I was looking forward to this book after the comparisons to Gone Girl. I was completely disappointed. Pathetic, self-destructive characters spending most of the book inside their own heads. Ther was no great plot twist...the whodunnit was a simple process of elimination.
The pace of the story was too slow, the resolution of both intertwined plots were predictable, and the narrator seemed to only be able to distinguish different characters by increasing the nasal quality of her voice. Overall, it was a big disappointment after reading many favorable reviews.
The story was okay, but the boring narration, stilted dialogue, and sophomoric descriptions ruined it for me. I would like my money and four hours of my life back.
