In her best-selling Amelia Peabody mysteries, author Elizabeth Peters has created an award-winning mixture of vivid archeological detail, finely-tuned suspense, and witty romance. This, the 12th Amelia Peabody mystery, opens in 1914. As the tides of war rise, Egypt is threatened by attacks. Espionage abounds, pulling in several members of the Peabody Emerson household even as they embark on a new archeological season.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love this series for an escape to another time; I learn a bit about history and enjoy the ongoing story of the intelligent and pleasantly flawed Amelia Peabody family.

What was one of the most memorable moments of He Shall Thunder in the Sky?

The tension between the young lovers.

What about Barbara Rosenblat’s performance did you like?

Rosenblat has developed the characters in a lively way that carries throughout the series. It is on her voice that the listener arrives in Egypt.

Award-winning author Alan Bradley returns with another beguiling novel starring the insidiously clever and unflappable 11-year-old sleuth Flavia de Luce. The precocious chemist with a passion for poisons uncovers a fresh slew of misdeeds in the hamlet of Bishop’s Lacey—mysteries involving a missing tot, a fortune-teller, and a corpse in Flavia’s own backyard.

If you could sum up A Red Herring Without Mustard in three words, what would they be?

    Intelligent fun

Who was your favorite character and why?

Flavia de Luce is a wonderful blend of youth and intellect.

What does Jayne Entwistle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Entwistle captures the immature of Flavia.
