All the stories in this collection from Stephen King are related to the Vietnam War. King fans will recognize echoes of The Dark Tower series in the collection's first story, "Low Men in Yellow Coats." As the characters develop over the next four stories, King's version of the Vietnam War becomes one of his most frightening tales ever.

Steve says: "Touching, Funny - Amazingly well written and read."

On May 29, 1953, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers to reach the summit of Everest. The Lost Explorer is the story of George Mallory, who many believed to be the first to reach the summit. Also, don't miss Jon Krakauer's Into Thin Air and an interview with a climber who was left for dead on the mountain.

English magicians were once the wonder of the known world, with fairy servants at their beck and call; they could command winds, mountains, and woods. But by the early 1800s they have long since lost the ability to perform magic. They can only write long, dull papers about it, while fairy servants are nothing but a fading memory.

    Tim says: "An awesome masterpiece"

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, although various friends struggled with it. If you can suspend belief and enjoy fiction this is the book for you. Cleverly written and a joy to listen to. Long but good for holidays

New York Times best-selling author Jodi Picoult is widely acclaimed for her keen insights into the hearts and minds of real people. Now she tells the emotionally riveting story of a family torn apart by conflicting needs and a passionate love that triumphs over human weakness.

I usually enjoy complete fiction but this book made a change from the normal. It is a cleverly woven story of one girl's struggle with her family. Sad but gripping with a completely unexpected ending. It has certainly made me want to read more Jodi Picoult books. I have even bought the book for a friend for her birthday.
