I was eager to hear what Buyology had to say but after 2 hours, I still hadn't reached any of the main ideas. I am not a fan of abridged books, but I'd make an exception with this one. I kept thinking, "enough already, get to the point!" I think there is some good stuff here, but I couldn't take it; I need more intellectual engagement to make listening to a book rewarding. It's worth reading, but I'd recommend getting a version you can skim so you can focus on the main points and not invest too much time in the padding.
Larsson's book is a compelling character study wrapped around a mystery. While some of the plot points may be predictable, the story line is much less important than the rich tableau that Larsson paints. If you are an action adventure person, this may not be for you. If you enjoy getting to know the characters, you will love it. It is all the more impressive that it is a translation from the original Swedish. Narrator Simon Vance is excellent and as key to the audio version as the author. (I may pick my next book from the ones he narrates. The narrator makes an extraordinary difference.) I enjoyed every minute. It's perfect for a road trip and I actually drove around several extra blocks after a 7 hour drive to get to the end of a chapter.
I would give this a much higher mark (4+ stars) for content than for listening experience. Great inspiration for women starting up. No revelations but very good encouragement and reframing of ideas. An ultimate 'you go girl' book. Good things to think about for raising daughters (ie relationship with money). However, the book includes MANY surveys, all of which are read out line by line, number by number. These should have been summarized as my mind wanders and loses the point every time. Listen if you don't have time to read, but read it rather than listen if you have a choice.
