When Jeanette Brioche helped launch The Corner Spa in Serenity, South Carolina, she found a whole lot more than professional satisfaction. She discovered the deep and loyal friendships that had been missing from her life. But even the Sweet Magnolias can't mend the terrible rift between Jeanette and her family or persuade her that the holidays are anything more than a season of misery.

    Karla says: "Wonderful!"
"Great story, needs a different narrator."
    Overall

I love the Steel Magnolia series, but can't stand listening to this narrator. I thought at first, Suzy Myers would be okay to listen to, but three chapters into it, I want to scream!

What Jack needs is an excuse to leave town. Ever since rescuing four teenagers from a car wreck, he's been hailed as a hero and the attention is making him itchy, especially since his too-pretty ex-wife is back, angling for a reunion. He's always liked Emmaline. She needs a weekend date? No problem. So when they wind up in bed together, Em chalks it up to red wine and chocolate cake, just one impulsive night not to be repeated. But Jack's pushing for more.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love the Holland family, Blue Heron Winery and Manningsport....this particular book, although it includes some very sad scenes, in large part is laugh out loud funny. I'm hoping there will be another book or two or three.....Connor still needs someone, and so does Jessica.......just a thought.

What does Amy Rubinate bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Amy Rubinate is AMAZING as narrator of this series. Although the books are a wonderful read, she adds life to the character and gives each character a uniqueness that would be missed otherwise.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

For the love of Blue Heron.

With the legends and lore of Ireland running through his blood, falconer Connor O’Dwyer is proud to call County Mayo home. It’s where his sister, Branna, lives and works, where his cousin, Iona, has found true love, and where his childhood friends form a circle that can’t be broken. A circle that is about to be stretched out of shape - by a long-awaited kiss. Meara Quinn is Branna’s best friend, a sister in all but blood. Her and Connor’s paths cross almost daily, as Connor takes tourists on hawk walks and Meara guides them on horseback across the lush countryside.

What made the experience of listening to Shadow Spell the most enjoyable?

    I enjoyed the storyline.

How could the performance have been better?

A completely different narrator. I had increase the narrator speed to get through the story and because otherwise, the accent sounded more Oriental than Irish and he didn't seem to be able to read a complete sentence without taking a break. Horrible, absolutely horrible narration.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

What did you love best about Unbroken?

This is an amazing book, and should be a must read in high school history classes. Louis Zamperini and fellow POWs, are to be commended for their bravery and perseverance through unspeakable horrors.

Knitting and life. They're both about beginnings - and endings. That's why it makes sense for Lydia Goetz, owner of A Good Yarn on Seattle's Blossom Street, to offer a class called Knit to Quit. It's for people who want to quit something - or someone! - and start a new phase of their lives.

Marjory says: "The book was what I expected"
    "Great story, AWFUL NARRATOR!!"
    Overall

I love the story, but Delilah has NO BUSINESS being a narrator. She is loud, she reads too fast, she is just plane obnoxious to listen to.

On the day she was abducted, Annie O’Sullivan, a 32-year-old Realtor, had three goals: sell a house, forget about a recent argument with her mother, and be on time for dinner with her ever-patient boyfriend. The open house is slow, but when her last visitor pulls up in a van as she’s about to leave, Annie thinks it just might be her lucky day after all.

Richard Delman says: "A singular voice; a horrendous story."
    "Incredible"

WOW!! This is a book that will keep you listening clear to the end. The narrator is awesome, no one could have done it better. She made it sound like she had gone through the ordeal. This is most definitely a must read/listen.

Amazon Customer says: "An Excellent Romance/Family Drama"
    "Great storyline, awful narrator"
    Overall

I love the storyline, but the narratory needs a great deal to be desired. I'm not even halfway through the book, and I'm already wondering if I'm going to be able to finish it. Unfortunately, I see Andrea Gallo is back for book #7, which means, instead of buying the audio version, I'll be buying the paperback....

I absolutely can't take listening to her voice. There are pauses where there shouldn't be any. She makes men that Sandra Burr made sound tough and masculine, sound more like wimps and feminine men. And, don't even go there with the love scenes.....I've never been so turned off in my life.

Virgin River is an awesome book. You get so caught up in the the characters, you can't stop listening; and you literally wish the book would never end. I just downloaded Shelter Mountain, can't wait to listen.
