Nobody knows the real Chase. Chase Summers has a razor blade to his wrist and the smell of his lover's goodbye clinging to his skin. He has a door in his heart so frightening he'd rather die than open it, and the lies he's used to block it shut are thinning with every forbidden touch. Chase has spent his entire life unraveling, and his decision to set his sexuality free in secret has only torn his mind apart faster.

Fantastic combination of a great book and a great narrator bring this heart wrenching tale to life. It's not an easy book, but it's expertly handled by the author and narrator alike. Amy Lane always delivers, love her work.

I could go on for days about this book. Really, I was hesitant to start with. I loved "Bear, Otter and the Kid", but was completely on the fence about the follow up - it lacked something; to flippant I think. So when this book landed, I had my doubts.

Boy, was I wrong. It's simply wonderful! It's sad and funny, hopeful and sometimes dark, real and imagined all in equal measure and quality. It's hard to image that a book about a boy and guardian angel could be anything but trite, but TL Klune has an expert touch that keeps you engaged all the while.

I cried and laughed, and it the end, love love love this book. There's a movie of this book in my head and I think it would be awesome.

And I found it - the easter egg from "Bear, Otter and the Kid". It made me smile.

I'm enjoying the Lang Downs series and will probably buy the next book soon.

The storyline is fresh and it stands out in a genre replete with "same 'ol, same 'ol". This is my first book by Dawn Kimberly Johnson and I look forward to more. I've been plagued by "series" of late, with the plot not quite finishing in each book. This story wraps up beautifully at the end of the book

Set in the south, the narrator is fantastic! He voices many characters, male and female alike and each are easily recognisable. Gran and the Mom are really well voiced, but by far the most descriptive voice is the villain.

Buy this book now. The story is great, and the narrator one of the best I've heard.

A previous reviewer didn't care for the Aussie accents much. I loved 'em! They sounded authentic, added much to the story and even with occasional slip up, Dry-as-a-bone, not Dizzabone, deserve 5 stars! Looking forward to the next instalment of the series. Spend your money (or credits) on this one.

Cole Kenjiro McGinnis, ex-cop and PI, is trying to get over the shooting death of his lover when a supposedly routine investigation lands in his lap. The only reason I'm giving the story 3 stars, is because it feels unfinished. Don't expect the narrative to wrap up all the loose ends in this book, I fear that's what book two and three are going to do.
That said, it's well written and I enjoyed the story quite a bit. If I hadn't liked the story, I would be a little unhappy about having to buy the next two books.
Excellent narration. Tremblay has a relaxed style that I enjoyed immensely.

It hasn't been easy, but horse trainer Dan Wheeler is beginning to build a new life for himself, finding his place in California with his lovers Evan Kaminski and Jeff Stevens. When things are going well, it's spectacular: there's affection, humor, and passion. But things don't seem to go well all that often. Dan continues to struggle with the loss of his previous lover and sometimes doubts that he even deserves to be happy; Evan is jealous of every rival for Dan's attention - including Jeff; and Jeff worries that he's too old for the younger men and wonders if he should bow out completely.

This book picks up the plot directly after book one. The threesome is still new and the boys test it's boundaries and rules in this next instalment. Chris' character features a lot more in this book, and to be honest, the plot twist I'd been hoping for, never materialised.
An ex hookup of Dan's strains the relationship and the on off on off cycle continues.

    Now for my plot twist:
Seeing we're in the fantasy realm of billionaire / artist / horseman happy triad, wouldn't it be interesting if Chris, Dan's best mate ever, moves to LA and professes his love for Dan? A bit twee, I grant you, but that's what a fantasy plot twist is all about.

Evan Costa learned from a very early age that there was no such thing as unconditional love and that it was better to settle for what you could get instead of expecting the world to give you what you need. As Ethan, porn model for Johnnies, he gets exactly what he wants - comradeship and physical contact on trade -and he is perfectly satisfied with that. He's sure of it.

Dan thinks about just driving, leaving the whole mess behind. He's got enough money. He could just arrange to get his stuff and his horse shipped to wherever he's going. Taking off is what he used to do when things got to be too much, and it worked pretty well, really.

I bought this book based on a recommendation from Reeva, who's opinions I've begun to appreciate.
While I'm still not sure that I get the emotional mechanics of a MMM relationship, the author handles it with aplomb. In the end, I think the relationship ends up being pretty stylised, but not so much that it's not realistic.
The mechanics of the sexual relationship in the MMM triad are expertly handled. What has the potential to overwhelm the plot, adds to it in many ways.
A long book, that feels like it flies by. Don't miss out, buy this book.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Paul Auster doesn't. Paul doesn't believe in much at all. He's thirty, slightly overweight, and his best features are his acerbic wit and the color commentary he provides as life passes him by. His closest friends are a two-legged dog named Wheels and a quasibipolar drag queen named Helena Handbasket. He works a dead-end job in a soul-sucking cubicle, and if his grandmother's homophobic parrot insults him one more time, Paul is going to wring its stupid neck.

From the same author as "Bear, Otter and the Kid" which I absolutely adored. Funny, what I found MOST endearing about "Bear, Otter and the Kid", is what I liked leased about this book -the wanderings of the protagonist's mind.
That said, it's a great read with a seldom explored plot line - what happens when the perfect man falls for a slightly insecure, broad around the middle, Average Joe? Worth a credit, absolutely!
