This review goes for books 1-9 in the Sookie Steakhouse series.
Fun, interesting, crazy, at times predictable but who cares,...I started reading and I couldn't stop until I read (listened) to all of them. I truly enjoyed them until I read book 10 and I got so very disappointed. Why, oh why Mrs. Harris? I heard number 11 is as bad but I can't say since i stopped buying them. Anyhow, first nine are a must for anybody who enjoys a good vampire story.Oh and reader is great!
Of all of her books I read until now, this one was by far the best. Everything in this book worked for me, especially the war against the evil Archangel. I can't wait for the next one.
I'm writing this review well aware that I'm going to be bombarded with unhelpful votes. However, books, like everything else in life are a subject to personal like or dislike and it would be against my principals to lie and say I liked this book. On the contrary, I was extremely disappointed, since this was the last one in the series. I'm hoping Ms. Frost's new series are going to be worth my credits, otherwise I'm done with her.
This book reminded me a bit of John Scalzi's way of writing; funny, interesting and with great characters. It's a story about a human abducted by aliens who is trying to figure out why was he abducted, together with many other different aliens. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I don’t like to read self-help books unless they are of educational kind(science, art,etc..) Since this one was free (thank you Audible.com), I thought why not. It was less than two hours in length, after all; I could take it.
It’s a short, interesting read, and in places very funny, about how we shouldn’t let our fears of failure stop us from trying to succeed. It’s a lecture about moral integrity and taking responsibility for our actions that would make us more confident and successful. The point of the book was that we all want something we don’t have, so let’s just be grateful with what we have and learn to enjoy it. Not bad for a self-help book.
A well written military sci-fi.
It’s a story about first human exploration spaceship (kind of like Enterprise from Star Trek) that rescues the only living Alien from a ship full of dead somethings. Alien turns out to be-guess what- a human, and the mystery ensue. I couldn’t put it down. I kept listening when I got home. Highly recommended for fans of military sci-fi.
I really don’t know to which genre I should shelve this one. Maybe post apocalyptic, suspense thriller. Maybe just the-end-of-the-world survival guide. This is one book that put me on the path of becoming one of the crazy doom-preppers. Very interesting read, although I’m not sure I would buy the next in the series. Made me just a tiny bit more paranoid than I would like to feel after a good read. No aliens or zombies, just the regular, human catastrophe.
Young adult, crime, mystery drama. I loved it. I have been a long time fan of books/movies/series about Sherlock Holms, and this book doesn’t disappoint. It was told from the point of view of the girl who is smart enough to become Sherlock’s apprentice and a friend, and the adventure begins. Highly recommended.
An interesting, young adult, paranormal romance. It’s a story about damaged girl who just wants to be normal. We can all relate to that part of our teen-hood in one way or another. The romance was a bit too sugary, but the mystery kept me reading. I will, however, wait until the third book comes out to finish the trilogy.
I loved the first book and the narrator, and I was looking forward to this one. However, the narrator completely ruined the book. She may not be a bad reader but she was absolutely wrong for this novel. I gave up after two chapters. If you didn't read the first book, you might enjoy this one.
Sigh. Mega disappointment.
What can I say, I'm a sucker for aliens. This series has mixed reviews but for some reason it got me from the first book and I got hooked on the interesting story about blood sucking aliens. Characters are totally cliché but the story is very interesting and the reader is giving every character a personality that sometimes lacks in writing. I would recommend this series for people who like to read paranormal romance.
