Overall, it's a good purchace. Magnus is an impish, child-like character though he's like 100's of years old. If it's about him, it's worth the listen. This one was far better than the one about Peru.
I read this book upon a recommendation from a friend. She peaked my interest w/this line, "I don't want to ruin anything thing about this book but seriously, God shows up as this warm, kind black woman like from Touched by an Angel." I was all in.
This book is to be read as a parable, not as a true story. It is a book that will completely remove your mind from it's faith box. It's not pro one faith or the other as far as Christianity goes. Baptist, Chatholic, Lutheron etc. It sincerely opened my mind, my heart and gave me an understanding of the Trinity I desperetly needed.
You read it and make your own decision. The author did a fantastic job bringing the characters alive and the narrator only made it easier to connect.
I'm looking forward to starting Book 1 (this was Book 0.5). I downloaded the rest of the series, even preordered Book 4 (September 2) as well as the kindle versions. This is an interesting story about a young girl rescued & turned into an assassin. It's reminiscent of the tv show Nikita only w/ Kings, Queens and Kingdoms. I liked the idea of it all and found the story interesting.
My only confusion or thing I graple with is this young girl is an assassin, how is it w/ her caution, care & training does she not catch on to the betrayal she is delt. I give her a pass based upon the fact that she is 16 when this story starts. I'm hoping to see her mature through out these next books.
Performance: Please forgive me, I'm picky. I'm an Emma Galvin, Therese Plummer fan. Some review I've read dislike my chosen narrators. It's just me. I feel Evans read Celina a bit too snotty but the voice for her is perfect. Make sense? I don't like how nasty she reads her at times when I feel Celina may have been being defencive not a brat. Her male voices are awful. But I'm sticking w/the audible & kindle version as I enjoy the story. Evans isn't horrid perhaps not my cup of tea is all.
I truly adore anything by Molly Harper. Seriously, what's not to love? This is another who-dun-it w/mystery, solid characters, a great story build. It'll keep you guessing. If you're into the serious mysteries than this may not be for you. This is a fun read, gal pals, wealthy friends & a past murder or was it? It's spooky but won't keep you up at night. I preordered this & will preorder anything by Molly.
Between the author & narrator you can't go wrong.
If you like the concept of The Walking Dead you'll enjoy this book. Lots of funny toilet paper references. I say TWD concept because, at least in this short story, he's the only survivor we meet, aside from Alice (ahhh Alice). So while there may be others this is not a group of people surviving together. So it's completely one sided.
Narration is perfect.
I love the Divergent trilogy and this ad on book is no different. Thankfully if you listened to the series then you'll be pleased to know they kept the same narrator-yeah! There are a few discrepancies in each story. Obviously the same author wrote this, I know. I'm just unsure why Four would've done/said a few things written. Also some time lines seem off. But I enjoyed it.
Great performance. As usual w/ Therese Plummer.
I really enjoyed this story. It's fun. The concept of who can become a vampire grates on my nerves but I won't give it away. There's some great girl power moments midway through. Funny stuff. It's worth both your money and/or credit.
Love the narrator.
Story is great!
It's a fun mystery, adventure, who dun it type, like the first book.
You'll enjoy this if you liked the first one (This Case is gonna Kill Me).
Great background into the history of the infamous Hotel Dumort. It's a cool part of history, not the made up hotel, but the era in which this takes place.
It was neat to get a look-see into Raphael's past. Knowing more helps him make better sense in the Mortal Instruments series.
I enjoy any story about Magnus Bane.
The narrator reads just fine but was a horrible Magnus Bane voice. Just sayin.
I'd like them to have stuck w/ Gareth David-Lloyd (The Course of True Love).
