I've always enjoyed the Herriot books and having grown up with the TV series, it was wonderful to hear them read by Christopher Timothy (who plays James). This is a very relaxing listen.
Christopher Timothy reads these wonderfully, during the humourous anecdotes you can hear him smiling.
I really enjoyed this. It was read by the author who has a charming, soft Scottish accent which I really loved to listen to. His reading is a little stilted at times, but his accent more than made up for it to me.
Similar to the Herriot stories (but a Doctor's life in Scotland rather than a vet in Yorkshire) as with Herriot it's the eccentric and colourful locals who make this book interesting.
I would definitely recommend it for an enjoyable listen.
I really enjoyed this. I grew up watching the narrator play James Herriot in the British T.V. series and don't think I could imagine any one else reading this. He reads it really well. As he reads the stories you can hear the warmth and humour in his voice. You can even almost "hear" him smiling.
I would definitely recommend it.
