It was a time when anything seemed possible, instant wealth, glittering fame, fabulous luxury, and for a run of magical weeks in the spring and summer of 1920, Charles Ponzi made it all come true. Promising to double investors' money in three months, the dapper, charming Ponzi raised the "rob Peter to pay Paul" scam to an art form and raked in millions at his office in downtown Boston.

Daniel has spent centuries falling in love with the same girl. Life after life, crossing continents and dynasties, he and Sophia (despite her changing name and form) have been drawn together-and he remembers it all.

"Drags along only to find out it is a serial"
    Overall

This drags you through 1500 years of a romance story only to get to the "end" to find out there is no end and you will have to wait for what? another serial?

You won't fool me twice. I won't come back for more

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

    "It's a series"
    Overall

There is nothing worse to me that getting toward the end of over 20 hours of listening to a poorly narrated good book to find it is the beginning of a series that might never have the end written, or if there is a contract forcing the end, the rest is an awful contract filler. If it wasn't a series I would have given three stars. if it was well narrated, I would have given it three stars. If both I would have wanted to go above 5 stars.

In her first novel since 2002, Nebula and Hugo award-winning author Connie Willis returns with a stunning, enormously entertaining novel of time travel, war, and the deeds - great and small - of ordinary people who shape history. In the hands of this acclaimed storyteller, the past and future collideand the result is at once intriguing, elusive, and frightening.

Monica says: "Double review - Blackout and All Clear"
    "This book is incomplete"
    Overall

There is no ending in this book You are simply left hanging. two thirds of the book is about the characters being stranded with no answer. You have to purchase another books to find out what happens. I will get the All Clear not that I have heard Black out in unabridged format but I refuse to be force to purchase another book to end a cliff hanger.

Life should have been easier for Sonea, now that Regin ignored her and the rest of the novices treated her with wary respect, but she cannot forget what she witnessed in Akkarin's underground room, or his warning that Kyralia's ancient enemy is watching the Guild closely.

    "get the abridged"
    Overall

this is simply a long love story. It is the first time I have ever wished I had gotten the abridged. I hate abridged books but these three books could not stand on their own and should have only been one book. Maybe that would have made the time I put into it worth it.

I admire Willa Catha's writing but why is this book listed in the Gay and Lesbian Category? There are no gay or lesbian characters.

Hope other Gays and Lesbians complain too.

Sile is a stylish citizen of the new Dublin, a veteran flight attendant who's traveled the world. Jude is a 25-year-old archivist, stubbornly attached to the tiny town of Ireland, Ontario, in which she was born and raised. On her first plane trip, Jude's and Sile's worlds touch and snag at Heathrow Airport. In the course of the next year, their lives, and those of their friends and families, will be drawn into a new, shaky orbit.

    "Great Characterization"
    Overall

Very good, not a typical romance. Not just a date and a uhaul. Characters become so well known the ending seems somehow short. It seems the novel had been about getting to know the main characters and suddenly it ends without a story about them. I would love to hear a sequence.

This fall marks the 150th anniversary of one of the least known and yet most significant social experiments in American history. In September, 1854, the first "orphan train" carried 46 homeless children from New York City to far off homes to become laborers in the pioneer West. It was the first step in what was to become the emigration of as many as 250,000 orphan children to new homes throughout the entire United States.

I am glad this was free or I hope it was one of the free ones. Though interesting it gave no new information about the orphan trains. I have heard a lot more on the radio.

Best-selling author Nevada Barr delights contemporary mystery fans with novels like Deep South and Blood Lure. In Bittersweet, she departs the mystery genre for a touching story of hardship, perseverance, and love in the old West.

This is a wonderful book, opens eyes to what life must have been like for a large group of people in history. It is sad to me that Audible seems to have chosen this one book to represent Lesbian Fiction. Hope it sells well so that Audible will open up to more.
