Rarely am I speechless when giving a review...but there is SOOO much to say and all of it sounds kind of hokey....kind of like when you are enthralled in a soap opera and you try to explain it to a friend and it just comes out sounding so dumb, but in the mean time you are the one running to your DVR after work praying something else got resolved today!
That sums up Alpha...it wasn't contrived drama...it wasn't over the top ridiculous drama that you could NEVER see happening....it wasn't really an inst-love drama....and it wasn't a virgin meets billionaire love story. What it was was HOT...if there were words larger than capital size I would use them. This story is explicit, sensual, rough, raw, mind blowing and all without being raunchy. I have never listened to this author before but I think all my credits are about to be used!
Imagine you are a broke 26 year old, you are trying desperately to make ends meet, but they don't. You are working full time, you had to put your mother in a home due to her mental issues, and your little brother is in college and he NEEDS your help...then there are the aging grandparents in Florida barely getting by that you feel compelled to help, and there is you. You don't think about you much in this hell-hole you call life because you have to take care of others. That is the life of our leading lady Kyrie...her whole world changed when at 19 her father was murdered and she went from college sorority chick to sole provider and caregiver of her family. She has made her way through life the best way she can and life has kicked her at every chance. Jobs are scarce, and she just lost hers, but she is tough...she has to be. In one day she lost her job, got an eviction notice, her electricity was shut off and she was hungry....and then a check arrived for 10 thousand dollars. She had no choice but to cash it, and then another one came, and then another...and after 12 months of checks and 12 months of being able to finally make ends meet a large man, hat in hand is sent to "collect her" for his employer....the check writer. See these checks come with a string...a string she was terrified to lead to their source, and their source has a story of his own....see he's been watching Kyrie for years...he is obsessed with her...wants her...and now he owns her and she knows it.
*shudder* All I can say without giving the rest of it away is dang that was G-O-O-D, and the best part....it was ONE book, not three....not a cliffhanger....we get the end of the story. Now personally I would be okay with a book 2, but as for book 1 it left me panting for more and the need to re-listen right away. The narrator is up there with Jill Redcliff, her telling of the story was full of passion, full of emotion, and her male voice was....*shudder*...oh my! Gideon Cross is still number 1 but the race was close and I will look for books done by both her and this author again. Wow, just wow. Nice find!!!
Still loving this world...this was Dorian's story. Dorian was damaged when his sister was kidnapped in book 1 and killed by the psychopathic council member Enrique, and he has never recovered. He has tried to put on a brave face but his soul is hurt, he hates the Psy and all the represent, if it weren't for them covering up a serial killer within their midst his sister might still be alive.
The first time she saw the dangerous sniper Dr. Ashaya Aleine knew he almost pulled the trigger, so why hasn't she been able to stop thinking of that man..cat...being. She is one of the most important M-Psy known to the Psy race and has pretended to embrace silence for years...and yet this man might have the ability to undo it all.
Overall it was still nice being in this world, however, after being in this world for a while I find it a bit implausible that Ashaya could have hidden her flaws for all these years, even with the net mind. So, while it was nice to read, I found it to be inconsistent with previous plots.
I read the first 3 psy changling books a couple of years ago and I got distracted...I decided to download book 4 for a nice change of pace and SOOO glad I did! I forgot how cool this world was!!!
Clay, the hard ass leopard sentinel has always been a loaner....the pack knows that, heck even the readers know that, but we didn't know why until now.
Tallon, the human never should have befriended the little boy named Clay, but he was hurt and she wanted to help...and that one act cemented their souls forever.
It's been 20 years since Clay was told his best friend, his only friend, Tallon died....so how is she standing in front of him asking for help?
Great book, already downloaded book 5, I have missed this world, if you haven't listened to these books you just don't know what you are missing.
Great for sale, credit or *gulp* BUY....yup....it's good!
This was a decent sex story with a side of plot. A bit disappointed when the plot kind of fizzled, but it kept me interested for more than 10 hours so I got my money's worth. I also liked the twist that it wasn't 2 guys that came together because they wanted the same girl, it was two guys that belonged together but couldn't find a balance until they added the girl...so that made it interesting...but it wasn't great.
I say worth it for a sale and a credit but don't just buy it outright.
This is the book that you should really read prior to the Half Moon Hollow series because it fills in a lot of holes, like who Jaime is.
Love the plot of this one, poor Jane is thrust into circumstances beyond her control again and we get to see a lot more of Ophelia in this book and get to see the mayhem caused by Jane trying to get married. Love that Iris is in this book, so much fun to read!
For those of you giving bad reviews I just don't get it! This is a very typical Molly Harper Book, you aren't reading it because it's the next literary classic you read it because it's fun, witty, and to catch up with the people from this wonderful world where Vampires came out of the closet, so to speak, in 1999 because of an accountant suing his employer to get night hours because he fell under the American's with Disability Act because he bursts into flames in sunlight! Does this sound like War and Peace people? Get over it and enjoy the pallet cleanser that is the Half Moon Hollow bunch with their shark-headed folks, witches, and Vampires that are just trying to live "normal" lives. Enjoy the antics and the mishaps!
First and foremost, SPOILER ALERT FOR OTHER BOOKS!
PLEASE AUDIBLE put the Molly Harper series in one freaking list chronologically! I read this book right after the one about the witches handbook, that is how audible said to read them...so why am I listening to this book and hearing how things worked out in the Jane series? I am not a happy camper when I followed the correct reading order and I get spoilers for other books...it just makes me all grrrrrrrr!
Nice little book, glad it was free back in the day and that I was finally able to listen to it. LOve the Hollow, Molly Harper's humor and of course Amanda Ronconi brings it all home with her quirky way of bringing the characters to life....just wish it was longer, but hey what did I want for free...would not recommend a buy for $10 or use of a credit, it was just too short!
I wish this story was a bit longer, or that it had more meat but it did check many of my boxes. A very strong leading lady who is a yoga teacher, but don't think for a minute she is flaky. A strong domineering male lead, but don't think for a minute he is so set in his ways a good woman can't change him.
I liked that all the characters remained true to form. They didn't change who they were in chapter one to further the story. While there was some miscommunication between the H and h I don't think it was unreasonable or off the wall drama for the sake of drama.
Good steam scenes, really liked the narrator, all in all maybe a credit or a sale but not a buy, it was just too short.
If your kid plays/ed a travel sport, particularly baseball, just click add to cart!!! This book made me laugh, smile, and just left me feeling lighter somehow.
This book is about the relationship between a mother and son and their introduction to travel baseball at age 9. There were no steamy scenes but there were several romances going on that had you rooting for some couples and cringing at others, and all the while there was a 9 year olds journey into Travel Baseball, and a mother’s journey about watching her son grow up.
Sam was so happy to be invited to play Travel Baseball with a REAL summer team, but the experience wasn't exactly what he thought it would be. His mother, Shannon, has her own problems with Travel Ball, culture shock doesn't exactly cover it. As she battles to not turn into one of THOSE parents...the parents that are rooting for a 10 year old to drop the ball, or engaging in brawls in the stands about a little kids ball game; she is faced with her ex husbands antics, his new hot (and barely legal) girlfriend, her own attraction to an opposing teams coach, former friends turning on her, learning what snack-shack time was...and all this before the first tournament!?!?!?!?
This story was great! I laughed at all the real life people it reminded me of (why exactly do parents feel the need to facebook status every move their kids make?) But I also really enjoyed the way it made me remember my sons first few years in travel ball. I sincerely hope there is a sequel!!! *hint hint*
Great for sale, credit or *gasp* PURCHASE (yeah I liked it that much folks!)
I usually really enjoy Molly Harper...but this one fell a bit flat. There was more relationship angst in this one than I am use to and I think it just fell flat for that reason. Rather than new and exciting mayhem disasters we pretty much just had more of the same, although the varicose vein scene was FUNNY! Overall good addition to the series but I think I will wait on getting book 4 for a while, I think I need a break.
Amanda's narration was awesome as usual!
I adore Molly Harper books, love Amanda Ronconi's narration but this one let me down. It was under 6 hours, so super short, and while there were amusing moments the over all plot was weak. I feel it could have been continued and I would have been able to give it a higher rating but with just this little taste, well, I was disappointed.
Maybe buy it for $4.95, but don't use a credit or buy it.
