This presentaion comes in two parts:
1)A theoretical introduction - that is perhaps a bit long winded if you already have a working knowledge of Chakras - and...
2) A guided meditation with gongs and hypnosis that I love. [ You can skip straight to the meditation (Chapter 3) after the initial listening].
I was very stressed the first time I litened to this, but I was in the zone within a few minutes. I kept taking large spontaneous breaths and jut thinking "Yesss".
This will definately guide you to a direct experience of your Chakras, so it is recommended to anyone who wants to let go, forgive, regenerate and be happy.
THE WORST ASPECT is the "AUDIBLE PROMO" that comes at the end of the presentation - just when you are drifting in a state of blissful energy, the Audible guy says something to the effect of "we hope you have enjoyed this presentaion" at a volume so far above the volume of the main recording that it is guarenteed to jar you right out of your meditation - profoundly annoying! I can live with these awful promos at the start of a presentation, but at the end of a meditation?!? Please, Audible, develop some sensetivity and respect for the material that you bring us(This is not the only meditation with the problem). If you must put these promos on, get some gentle music and a professional voice-over, and use an audio edit to ensure uniform volumes.
No. The introduction can be listened to in an awake state (eg. the car). The meditation section needs to be done in a restful environment.
Overall, well worth the price.
This audio presention is a bit of a smorgasboard drawn from rediscovered note and lectures given by Alan Watts in the 1950s & 1960s. This may sound dated, but alongside Shunru Suzuki, Alan Watts was one of the first to introduce the west to Zen & Taoism. His teaching is clear and concise (for the Western mind) and will point you effortlessly towards the spacious beingness at the heart of zen. Alan Watts was one of the "great minds" that ushered in the flowering of consciousness of the 1960s, so these precious mini-lectures are straight from the (western) source of the spring. Recommended to anyone who wants an overview of Zen, or just wants more Zen in their life, or just needs reminding that this "thusness" is always there, fresh and eternal.
