Sixteen-year-old Callie lost her parents when the genocide spore wiped out everyone except those who were vaccinated first - the very young and very old. With no grandparents to claim Callie and her little brother, they go on the run, living as squatters, and fighting off unclaimed renegades who would kill for a cookie. Hope comes via Prime Destinations, run by a mysterious figure known only as The Old Man. He hires teens to rent their bodies to seniors, known as enders, who get to be young again.

Would you listen to Starters again? Why?

Definitely, and already have. It was fresh, futuristic and kept me wondering what would happen next.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

What does Wil Wheaton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Will does an outstanding performance. His versatility of character voices brings this story to life like turning something 2D into 3D and turning on the surround sound. A wonderful cast of voices. I will search for other audio books by him for sure!

    Any additional comments?

1980s generation will love this. . . Or any listener/reader/gamer familiar with the 80s culture. It kept my interest from start to finish with some great unexpected surprises.
It will captivate the youth gamer and old-time gamer alike. The only part I could have done without is the short section of the story with adolescent boy sexual self exploration references. Didn't see the point in it. I would hesitate to give this book to my pre-teens because of that.

    Any additional comments?

I started this book not knowing what to expect and found myself diving into it! I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for book 2! I will buy it as soon as it is out.

It is the cusp of World War I, and all the European powers are arming up. The Austro-Hungarians and Germans have their Clankers, steam-driven iron machines loaded with guns and ammunition. The British Darwinists employ fabricated animals as their weaponry. The Leviathan is a living airship, the most formidable airbeast in the skies of Europe.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

To anyone that loves a steampunk twist on history and a sweet romance. No trash here.

What about Alan Cumming’s performance did you like?

Alan is fantastic!! I would try other books by him just because he does such a great job.
