The whole nine yards, the story is refreshing and wholly engrossing. Narration by Marguerite Gavin was excellent as always.
In a class by it's self, the only other books that compare in this genre is the rest of The Hollows.
I love them all.
Made me very happy with the relationships and how all of them evolved, not just in this book but in the series.
First don't read this book without reading the entire series, it would be like reading Queen of Sorcery before Pawn of Prophecy (David & Leigh Eddings).
Second for all those who have read the series FOR HEAVENS SAKE READ THIS.
You will not be disappointed in the slightest.
Big thanks to Kim Harrison for sharing her amazing imagination with us.
No one - die hard fans maybe, they might be able to hear the humor behind the dreadful narration.
Most of Lynsay Sands books as long as they are not read by amateur narrators. Check the producers and they have done any other books, also check the narrators for other books and reviews.
Yes. The narrator was obviously an amateur as it seemed that she was using the finger pointing technique, I also believe this to be the case due the numerous hesitations and missed words. Punctuation was all over the place leading to confusion of what was actually going on. They, the narrator and producers, seem to have little understanding of the humor in the book leading me to believe that the producers and their chosen narrator had not read the book prior to recording it. The narrator's accent was lovely and gentle however the inability to be consistent with characters voices was horrendous. Sadly it was very hard to understand the story and I had to concentrate very hard to have my usual laugh when listening to a Lynsay Sands's book.
Headache trying to understand through the narration
I listen to a lot of Audiobooks from many different Narrators and Producers, I have only run across one book that was so poorly narrated. I think that Authors and their Agents need to have legal recourse over the publication of Audiobooks. This Audiobook is a clear example where a fun book is turned into a very bad product. This reflects directly on the author and will have an impact, however slight,on their reputation and on their current and future sales.Yes this is a harsh review and some reviewers were OK with the narration however I as far as I'm concerned this is a poor product in relation to all but one of my Audible purchases.
Yes and Yes and just in case you're not sure YES! This was a long awaited book for me, I was so excited i literally had Audible up waiting for the release counting down from 5 hours.Fabulous listen, never a dull moment, exceeding it's predecessor and that takes an amazing imagination.
The rest of the Hollow's, Kim Harrison has a very unique way of writing. I'm a very big listener and reader of fiction and I just haven't listened/read anything close.
Wonderful as always, voices are spot on and continuity is excellent.
Yes! but I'm not telling you where.
There seems to be a little issue with production, I noted that in order to listen comfortably I have to turn on the treble reducer on my iPod. It's sort of like the radio's not quite tuned. But to a fan, that's minor.Thank you very much Ms Harrison, I re-listen to The Hollows a lot as they give me such pleasure.
Madeline Hunter possible but Kate Reading, not a romance or other fictional books
Interesting use of English history, dreadful narration
Nope. When i started listening i thought this might be an OK book but soon found that anger and happiness had similar inflections, that being none. The female character was to be one of strength and self assurance what i heard was a meek mouse.
Sadly there was a problem with telling the characters apart conversation seemed to just run through the words without indicating who was speaking, deepening the voice for a man, lighter for a woman.
No, buy the book you'll be able to 'hear' the characters better.
Yes, Fantastic adventure
Kris but Trouble is closing
Yes, I do like Dina Pearlman's reading however i thought this one was just a tad too fast, not much but just a little. Fantastic character renditions.
Teared up a little when Kris was... can't spoil it sorry.
Just great work, imagination and skill to pull of such an outrageous story line. Is there a little time warp we can do to get at the next one?
