I love it when I find an audio book that I can't stop listening to. This is one of them. I would find myself sitting in the car in the garage just to listen to more of it. The characters are richly described and "real". You will really like Kimberly and Mac, Quincy (her father) and Raney. The settings are so well described, you can almost smell them. And above all, the plot is tight and the mystery compelling. I highly recommend this book.
Very high on the list.
Interesting characters, great narration, twists and turns in the story. Loved the back story about the Gulf oil spill and the impact on that area of the country.
All of them, the narration is great, but probably my favorite is Clete Purcel.
No way. . It's 18+ hours, but I made time to listen to it.
Just loved this book. I've listened to a couple of other Burke/Robicheaux books, but now I'm going to get several more.
I am such a big Dresden/Butcher fan, but this book fell far short for me. The ghost situation was just plain annoying, and the characters seem to gone off the rails. Some of my favorite characters weren't even likable in this book.I got through it so that I won't be missing something for the next book, but I wish I had that time back again. Glover, the new narrator was fine, but I miss Marsters. I guess I've just gotten used to him being Dresden, and Glover is okay but not Marsters.
Of course. Love the Alera series
He was fine, but sometimes exaggerated the voices a bit much.
Nearly all of them. Didn't like the book at all.
I just hope the next one is better.
I continue to love these crazy books. It moves along nicely and the twists and turns are compelling.
The story was okay, but the extensive descriptions of combat and military strategy was tiring. Not my thing.
Just awful. No shortage of adjectives and adverbs, but big shortage of compelling drama and action. It was trite and boring. I wish I had counted the number of times the words "shambling" and "pate" were repeated. I want my time back.
My typical book choice is mystey, thriller, etc. However, this audiobook got great reviews and I thought I'd try it for a change of pace. I wish I could give the narrator 10 stars. The book is poignant, and the narrator makes it come alive. I love to read and I love audiobooks too. But this recording is so much better than reading it, I can't even believe I'd say that. Enjoy.
This book depicts the horrendous and despicable conditions of post-War Stalinist Russia. Part I, the first 6+ hours, were especially agonizing. The living conditions, saturated with mistrust and corruption, were almost more than I could take. My curiosity about the murders and Leo's evolution/survival kept me listening, but I would not necessarily recommend it over so many other books.
This book is riveting. You are captivated throughout. The various voices for narration is superb. Highly recommend it.
This is a long book, but worth every minute. I couldn't wait to get back into my car for more. The characters are SO interesting, especially LizBeth. The narration is impeccable. Loved it.
The narrator's slow and tedious voice caused me to give this a lower rating than the actual book deserves. It did enjoy the plot and loved the two main characters, Sean and Michelle. The hospital "mystery" was distracting and the book as a whole took too long. On balance a pretty good selection.
