Raylene Pendle (AKA Cheshire Red), a vampire and world-renowned thief, doesn’t usually hang with her own kind. She’s too busy stealing priceless art and rare jewels. But when the infuriatingly charming Ian Stott asks for help, Raylene finds him impossible to resist - even though Ian doesn’t want precious artifacts. He wants her to retrieve missing government files: documents that deal with the secret biological experiments that left Ian blind. What Raylene doesn’t bargain for is a case that takes her from the frozen outskirts of Minneapolis to the mean streets of Atlanta.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would change the authors tendency to overexplain things.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Good ending, I assume it will tie it in with the next one.

What three words best describe Natalie Ross’s voice?

A good performance of the characters in a book can bring it alive. I think Ms Ross gave it a good shot, made the book good. A little flat in places, and her cuban/mexican accent needs some help.

With the first portal of hell permanently open, the energies of the dark path are leaching into the world. Searching for Schmidt’s killer and the keys at the same time, Risa and reaper Azriel track a shape-shifting spider spirit capable of changing her form into a seductive woman. But when they finally find the second key, the Aedh Lucian snatches it and disappears.

What did you like best about Darkness Unmasked? What did you like least?

I have read the previous books, I like the main character, she has spunk.

Would you be willing to try another book from Keri Arthur? Why or why not?

Yes, I would - while not the best she is a good author and most of her books are a good READ. not listen - Read.

What didn’t you like about Saskia Maarleveld’s performance?

Her performance absolutely ruins the book, there is no life to the reading, huge silences and pauses where there shouldn't be, no connection with the characters, I simply couldn't connect the sentences to the action of the moment because the delivery was so bad.

Was Darkness Unmasked worth the listening time?

NO - until someone else reads it for Audible - which is unlikely, just read it for yourself. you will enjoy it more.

Where does Throne of Jade rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book ranks probably in the top 50 of the books I have read, A good story, it drags a little in places, and sometimes I find the characters not quite realistic. I have a hard time finding the main character someone I can make a connection to.

What three words best describe Simon Vance’s performance?

Mr. Vance's performance of this book, as with the others in the series was what, I feel, made this worth listening to and indeed brought it to life.
