I will be listening to this one again. Some things are not in accord with recent breakthroughs but that's to be expected and it's good to hear a professional dietitian's viewpoint. After all, if we only wanted to hear our own prejudiced ideas, we need only listen to ourselves. Lots of valuable information here and it's worth keeping an open mind while listening.

From the celebrated author of The Secret Life of Bees, a magnificent novel about two unforgettable American women. Writing at the height of her narrative and imaginative gifts, Sue Monk Kidd presents a masterpiece of hope, daring, the quest for freedom, and the desire to have a voice in the world - and it is now the newest Oprah’s Book Club 2.0 selection. Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century Charleston, yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls that enclose her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke’s daughter, Sarah, has known from an early age she is meant to do something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits imposed on women.

When you get an audio book, THIS is what you hope for. Outstanding story and an incredible delivery. WELL DONE! This is the finest sort of historical fiction, informative and inspiring. I was hooked from the first sentence. The characters became real and, the more I listened, the more engrossed I became in their lives. I found myself praying for Handful's delivery from her mistress' injustices and selfishness.

Pocket has been Lear's cherished fool for years. So naturally Pocket is at his brainless, elderly liege's side when Lear demands that his kids swear to him their undying love and devotion. Of course Goneril and Regan are only too happy to brownnose Dad. But Cordelia believes that her father's request is kind of...well...stupid, and her blunt honesty ends up costing her her rightful share of the kingdom and earns her a banishment to boot.

This was an excellent rendition of King Lear as told from the Fool's perspective. While it's not my usual fair, in a few minutes I was fully engaged. Often crude, Mr. Moore makes the vulgarity part of the story in a way I would not have thought possible, which is to say, I stopped being offended and began enjoying it in short order. I fully plan to investigate his other novels.

Euan Morton did an outstanding job of reading. His delivery was spot on and I found myself completely involved in the story. His characterizations were excellent, It made listening smooth and easy, as one clearly understood who the subject was at each word.

The year is 1703. The place: The Carolina settlement of Charles Town. Matthew Corbett, professional 'problem solver,' has accepted a lucrative, if unusual, commission: Escorting a beautiful woman to a fancy dress ball. What should be a pleasant assignment takes a darker turn when Matthew becomes involved in a murder investigation.

I listened to all the earlier Matthew Corbett books and enjoyed each and every one, to the point that I looked forward to this one and even pre-purchased. What a disappointment. All the others ended in a logical place and provided a point-to-point finish. This one is a typical cliff hanger and left me reluctant to pursue it further. While the protagonist was every bit as engaging and the story line was equally so, why cut off your reader when the story was half... or a third... or a fourth finished. Really? Is it McCammon's plan to leave his readers with no satisfaction in the end of the book? If it's to be serialized, why not let us know before we buy it and find out it's just a portion of the story. It's unlikely I will pursue it further. Too bad. Sometimes the greedy, or maybe the lazy, don't win.

To Mr Ballerini. You are a most engaging and talented reader. Five stars for you for each and every one of your Matthew Corbett books. You are an inspiration, in that you consistently provide inflection and clarity to every line, and your characters are immediately recognizable. There is no confusion about who is the source of the conversation. You deserve every accolade.

From the internationally best-selling author, a lush and imaginative novel that crisscrosses time as passion and obsessions collide. An orphan named René le Florentin is plucked from poverty to become Catherine de Medici’s perfumer. Traveling with the young duchessina from Italy to France, René brings with him a cache of secret documents from the monastery where he was trained: recipes for exotic fragrances and potent medicines - and a formula for an alchemic process said to have the potential to reanimate the dead.

No offense Mr Gigante but every male part in this book sounded like Count Dracula. while the story was fair, why the heavy accent for all the male parts? Ms Ross provided a good reading and I would have given her four stars if hers was the only voice.

Nicola Marter was born with a gift. When she touches an object, she sometimes glimpses those who have owned it before. When a woman arrives with a small wooden carving at the gallery Nicola works at, she can see the object’s history and knows that it was named after the Firebird - the mythical creature from an old Russian fable. Compelled to know more, Nicola follows a young girl named Anna who leads her into the past on a quest through the glittering backdrops of the Jacobites and Russian courts, unearthing a tale of love, courage, and redemption.

Sadly, this one did not engage me and I was somewhat disappointed. I suppose it's because the main character merely observes rather than engages in the history. There just wasn't enough in this book to live up to her others.

Robert McCammon brings the hero of his previous novel, Matthew Corbett, to 18th-century New York, where a killer wields a bloody and terrifying power over a bustling city carving out its identity - and over Matthew's own uncertain destiny.

The unsolved murder of a respected doctor has sent ripples of fear throughout a city teeming with life and noise and commerce. Who snuffed out the good man's life with the slash of a blade on a midnight street? The local printmaster has labeled the fiend "the Masker," adding fuel to a volatile mystery...

I cruised through all four books in the Matthew Corbett series in record time and enjoyed every one. I did read them in order so it was easier to follow references to past episodes of Matthew Corbett's career. That said, each can stand on its own individually and be completely entertaining without having read any previous novel.

Mr Ballerini does an outstanding job reading and brings all the characters to life. Each character is uniquely voiced so that you instantly know who is speaking. (Very helpful in keeping the characters strait in your head.) I particularly like his ability to make young people sound young and those with more maturity, voiced in keeping with their age.

It was this series which prompted me to change to two credits a month. It's easy to spend them when one has such entertaining characters and exciting, hair raising adventures to look forward to. I definitely recommend all the books in this series.

Loved this story. It was well written and the narration was outstanding. I fully intend to read more of Mr. McCammon, and Mathew Corbett's adventures. While I thought the book was overlong to begin with, once into it, I couldn't imagine any part which could have been eliminated. I hope the next one is as good.

I never met a Kate Morton book I didn't like. This one was outstanding even for Ms Morton. From the beginning you are blown away and at the very end, blown away again. I don't want to spoil it for anyone so I won't give any details. It is sufficient to say, "order it, you won't be disappointed."

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
