I have to tell you that I did enjoy this story. Who doesn't love a submissive "coming out" story? I know I do. However, I was deeply dissapointed in not finding out who Charlie's 'client' was... am I to assume KING was the man?
I didn't know that this was a prequel to a series. I wish Audible had placed that bit of info with the title. If I had known, I would have read it AFTER the 3 books in the series.
As it stands, I was entertained. I thought Montana Chases' voice was plesant enough. Altough she has a HORRENDOUS French accent that left me cringing at times.
I'd like to think that Charlie continues to enjoy her submissive lifestyle, but since the end came so fast and didn't give me an answer, I'm left annoyed.
I sincerely hope the series books don't end like this...
This was an OK read. I enjoyed the friendship morphing into love aspect of the story, but the plot and characters weren't dynamic enough to give me pause, or draw me in. similarly, the story line.. the traumatic past... well, all in all, it wasnt far fetched per se, but it certainly wasn't believable. And for some reason I just couldn't get over the idea that anyone so stunted by negative, hurtful, and harmful reactions to one's sexual preferences from sn early age in life-- abandonment issues much!-- could be so "easily turned off" after one, albeit comfortable, conversation.... nothing in life is ever THAT simple. So, not the worst listen, but certainly not a great listen. save your credits and cash!
I cannot stress how much I LOVE Armand DeSoto. He is a phenomenal beast. I'm always entertained with Mary Calmes, but this story entertained, enlightened, and engulfed me with delight. Armand is gruff, blunt, and everything I wanted in a character. I'm no soldier, but I have the same moral code, and I agreed with everything he said and did. Never have I read a story where a character went against every "hero" standard known to man. Fu#$ken phenomenal. FINALLY. I couldn't get enough. I loved the man, loved the beast he embodies, and I will never, ever, EVER find a character so invigorating. THIS is why Calmes is on top. She gives us more with each page. "Better than yours", "that's the name of my clan." Oh yeah... Calmes stories will ALWAYS be better than yours. I simply cannot get enough... and I wouldn't want to. Flawless.
Seriously. I can't get enough of Kit!! His whit and humour kill me. I love how insecure he feels about some things, and how confident he feels in other things. He feels so real to me! The "top/bottom" scene was one of my absolute favs. Our perception of how the world sees us is very relevant, and as usual, Josh Lanyon, frames this scenario oh so well. ( I <3 you Josh Lanyon!) I appreciate Kit's detective abilities, and his knack for solving a good mystery. While JX has a certain appeal, Kit always comes out on top, which is probably why any additional book in the series will be on my " must get" list. Fantastic listen and read. Bravo.
I liked this story because everyone deserves at least one chance to fix a wrong. It took Rory a bit longer than I would have hoped, but in the end we got out HEA. I wish there had been an epilogue though....
I loved this book !! He completes him!! I want more! gimme gimme gimme gimme
I loved this story. I think this is my 5th time listening to it. Im a huge fan of romance, especially during the holidays. Mick's fears were well versed and honest. Fielding was just too darn cute. Anyone who reads/listens to this story and doesn't root for them as a couple just doesn't believe in christmas magic. I was hooked from the beginning, and can honestly admit that I wanted more.
I don't think I have ever laughed so hard in my life. This book was fantastic. I am a sucker for anything funny, throw in a decent plot, and entertaining characters, and I'm hooked. Oh Tom and Frank, I don't know where to begin. I just think they both are utterly adorable. I can't recount the number of memorable moments that lightened my heart, or made me bust a gut. I LOVE FLAWED CHARACTERS. And these two were flawed beyond belief, but in cute, and meaningful ways. Another thing I loved about this book was the idea of comfort... we're always feeling our best when we're comforted by the familiar and such... So when someone who's very UNcomfortable stepping out of their comfort zone, is thrust into an environment WAY beyond his comfort zone, with a jerk named Stanley (I HATE that name. HA) it's bound for some hilarity.
I have to say I wanted more. Thanks John.
I loved Book 3! THANK YOU JORDAN CASTILLO PRICE! I'm really enjoying this series. Vic makes me laugh. However dorky this sounds, I so wish he was a real person that I could befriend. I'm always entertained with how he sees himself vs. how Jacob sees him. I love that Jacob loves him unconditionally. That scene in the hallway... it blows my mind. And I can see how loving someone so much... lets you give them the 'freedom' to do things you would never, ever agree to otherwise. Oh Jacob.
The ending of this book left me happy... that's not always the case when reading/listening to a murder mystery, but I'm in my happy place... all snuggled up. Can't wait for book 4...
I'm always a fan of Cardeno C. I love stories about true mates, so this was a fun treat for me. I really appreciated Mitch's patience. It reminded me of all the little intimacies a couple experiences that don't involve sex. Poor Simon. He'd been through a lot and I think that anyone who experiences such tough life experiences deserves a happy ending.
On a side note:
I'm a bit upset because I didn't realize that Cardeno C. is giving audio books away to certain brand new readers for reviews. Here I am an audible/ amazon loyal member for years, posting reviews, not engaging in piracy, spending my own money to buy ebooks/audios, and providing honest reviews without receiving gifts. This is frustrating me.
The story has been done before, but I always enjoy Cardeno C. writing. Its a cute novella about a pretty, rich, 'bad' boy who did a little too much bad, and of course gets the 'no money until you shape up', and gets sent off to his sister's ex hubby's farm... and we all know what happens. HEA. Of course. It's a fun listen. And less than $5... Plus I have always enjoyed Paul Morley, so it's worth it... enjoy.
