Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

Nicole says: "You love it or you hate it..."
    "Well-rounded and incredibly enjoyable listen."
    Overall

Cannot get enough of this book. The story is so interesting and we love the detail and the way you learn so much about all the characters from multiple perspectives. It doesn't hurt that Scott Brick is the best narrator we've heard since joining audible (perhaps tied with Stephan Rudnicki). A thoroughly enjoyable ride.

  • Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions

In a series of illuminating, often surprising experiments, MIT behavioral economist Dan Ariely refutes the common assumption that we behave in fundamentally rational ways. Blending everyday experience with groundbreaking research, Ariely explains how expectations, emotions, social norms, and other invisible, seemingly illogical forces skew our reasoning abilities.

Stephen says: "Well researched, well written, & well read"
"better than a psych 101 textbook, but that's all"
    Overall

I felt this book beat me over the head with concepts that were actually rather obvious. Would make an interesting read if perhaps I had never taken any Psych classes at all during the course of my formal education.

If I were still teaching psych, I'd probably adopt is as a textbook. It's about the caliber of Aronson's Social Animal: good as a textbook but not as leisure reading.

It is also not read in a way that is interesting, but is just flat and dry.

I got it because it was reverenced in Dan Pink's Drive, but I'm actually pretty disappointed that I used a credit on this one.

David Rakoff's bestselling collection of autobiographical essays, Fraud, established him as one of today's funniest and most insightful writers. Now, in Don't Get Too Comfortable, Rakoff moves from the personal to the public, journeying into the land of unchecked plenty that is contemporary America. Rarely have greed, vanity, selfishness, and vapidity been so mercilessly and wittily skewered.

Nell Huntworth says: "More wonderful David Rakoff"

I really enjoyed listening to this. This is my first Rakoff experience, I I liked it. Healso has a a good narration style, so I think it added to the book quite a bit to have been narrated by him. What a treat!
