Augustus Berry lives a day-to-day existence comprised of waking up, getting drunk, and preparing for the inevitable day when "they" will come up the side of his mountain and penetrate his fortress. Living on the outskirts of a city and scavenging for whatever supplies remain since the demise of civilization, Gus knows that his next visit to undead suburbia could be his last.

What did you love best about Safari?

I enjoy that it literally starts where book one ended. Please take time to read/listen to book one first, this book will not be known as a stand alone story. Book 1 and 1a? ("Hospital" Novella) do a good job setting up how an average man (Gus the house painter) might survive a world taken over by the living dead. Physically and mentally. Be warned language and bodily functions tend to be quite descriptive so if you are easily offended.... what the heck are you reading books like this for? Back on point, Mr. Blackmore had the "the Mountain Man' ended on a massive battle followed by a "cliffhanger," Book Two starts just as Gus hits the metaphorical ground. Continuity is not a problem!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Safari?

Memorable moments. Since it has quite a few, this is a tough one...I will go with a funny one.. When the Captain gets to go along for the ride.. properly outfitted for zombie killing of course. Shame what happens to him. You have to read the books to understand this answer. Mr. Blackmore manages to throw in humor during the bad times. An important defensive trick which real people do tend to do, nice touch.

What does R. C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Just like any professional narrator Mr.Bray brings his take on how the characters might sound. Since he has a well modulated voice (his women's voices don't all sound like alcoholic, chain smokers or valley girls) this is not a problem for me. True some people want a monotone reader, which is fine for a radio news broadcast, but when it comes to fictional books I enjoy a reader who can bring characters to life without overpowering the story. Mr. Bray has done a wonderful job on all of the "Mountain Man" books to date, I hope he stays with the series.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Since I am doing this review less than twenty-four hours after I purchased it, you could say that. Actually I was up all night anyway, but Mr. Blackmore's book and Mr. Bray's performance made the hours much less boring. Thanks, Gentlemen.

    Any additional comments?

This book is part of a Horror Fiction Series. It is full of cussing, drinking and men scratching their..... umm. Pretty much real things that have been known to happen out in real life. It also has a bunch of Zombies, not quite so common in real life. It continues the story of how average human beings without special skills or training might survive. For those of you who have already started the series... we finally find out what happened to the corpses.

Final warning the series is rather addictive but (at this writing) it is so new that is rather frustrating waiting for the next book to get published...Drat!!. Wow, cussing is "contagious", zombie pun intended. If you are an die hard Zombie Fan, you should enjoy this series.
