I am so sorry to give this such a bad review but this was a merciless listen. The long drawn out pauses, the not quite monotone but yet rarely altering voice, the 'time is present but not present then already creating a paradox' doublespeak. 3 hours worth. Holy cow!
Maybe it is just me. I really had to keep forcing myself to chug through the first part. Then be swept away, staying awake until 2 am to listen to the middle part, absolutely rejoicing in the peripheral characters. Then back to chugging through the tailend. I felt like the story was decent, the characters great, the constant worshipping praise of the main character made it sluggish. I loved the other characters with their humanness, flaws and good points.
This is so enjoyable. There are only 2 books in the series; they don't have to be done in order but it helps.
The first and also exetremely worthwhile book is 'The Big Overeasy'. I hope that everyone listens to these and delights in them like I have.
An absorbing fast paced story; well written. The implied social commentary is a little depressing.
Opened my eyes and changed my outlook and my attitude; and I like the new me more.

This is good. This is easy to listen to, well narrated. But good information which makes a lot of sense. I recommend all Audible listeners to definitely include this on their lists.
