    Story

The story is painfully slow and the narration is hurried, dispassionate and distracting.

I enjoy fictional apocalyptic/survival stories but I couldn't get past the first hour of this one. I had high hopes and made the all too common mistake of judging a book by its cover, which initially intrigued me. The synopsis was intriguing as well. I can usually gut through at least the first half of stories that seem slow-to-start but this one dragged painfully in my opinion. To be fair, I only listened to the first hour of this book.

The story was extremely slow for my taste. I appreciate that the author of the book wanted to narrator the audiobook version but her pace was hurried and her voice and tone conveyed no passion for her own story.

It is easy to be critical of books and I always feel bad giving bad feedback when I myself dare not even write. I read/listen a lot but writing stories like this and putting yourself out there takes guts. For that I commend the author's effort. I am sorry to say, however, this one was a bust for me.

In a world ravaged by a deadly pandemic, former rock star Chris Price leaves New York and sets out on a long journey home to England. It’s been six years of devastation since the plague killed his wife and daughter, and Chris is determined to find out if any of his family has survived. His passage leaves him scarred, in body and mind, by exposure to humankind at its most desperate and dangerous. But the greatest ordeal awaits him beyond the urban ruins, in an idyllic country refuge where Chris meets a woman, Pauline, who is largely untouched by the world’s horrors.

Never judge a book by it's cover, exemplified here. I was completely thrown off by the description of the story as well. To be fair, some people might enjoy this story but it was nothing close to what I thought it would be. If you are looking for a post-apocalyptic or even pandemic fiction novel, look elsewhere. If you are looking for an extremely slow-paced love story, you might like it. Sorry, but it wasn't for me.

The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald's portrait of the Jazz Age in all its decadence and excess, is, as editor Maxwell Perkins praised it in 1924, "a wonder". It remains one of the most widely read, translated, admired, imitated, and studied 20th-century works of American fiction.

The Great Gatsby may be a classic novel but it is a terrible audiobook. Tim Robbins is a great actor but talent did not translate well in this audiobook. His voice was monotone in the extreme and the overall performance was anything but good. This is a great literary work of art but don't waste your money on the audiobook unless you are looking for boredom and then sleep.

Stealth. Gorgon. Regenerator. Cerberus. Zzzap. The Mighty Dragon. They were heroes. Vigilantes. Crusaders for justice, using their superhuman abilites to make Los Angeles a better place. Then the plague of living death spread around the globe. Despite the best efforts of the superheroes, the police, and the military, the hungry corpses rose up and overwhelmed the country. The population was decimated, heroes fell, and the city of angels was left a desolate zombie wasteland like so many others.

Fun Story! Liked the sequel, "Ex Patriots" as well. Looking forward to the third book in the series when it comes out. I love audio books read by more than one person too. Well done.

Neat concept, fun story, wasn't among my favorite of the end-of-the-world/Armageddon type stories but it was entertaining.
