The Good....If you like the post-rapture genre this is a pretty good one. The story moved well, and it sets up to be a nice trilogy. There are several characters who the story follows and I enjoyed the vast majority of them. (I always enjoy when you switch to a character and you get excited, just dying to know what happens to them as their story progresses). I had not read (or listened) to John Prescott previously but will definitely follow his future work.
The bad...quite simply, this may be the worst narration I have ever heard. I honestly can't begin to put it into words. The narrator has a nice, and very powerful voice. However, the reading is consistently over the top in terms of emotion and tone. It literally takes away from the story, and I was finding it difficult to concentrate on the plot.
Suggestion...maybe just buy this one and read it to yourself.
This is one of my favorite books of all time I could listen to it over and over again. The characters are vibrant and exceptionally well developed. The narrator is entertaining and fun to listen to. There were some audio issues while I was listening but it didn't take away from the story. I know that this book has some political undertones, but despite a persons party affiliation, I would highly recommend this to any person with an open mind.
