  • A Lonely Death: An Inspector Ian Rutledge Mystery

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 4 mins)
    • By Charles Todd
    • Narrated By Simon Prebble
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Three men have been murdered in a Sussex village, and Scotland Yard has been called in. It's a baffling case. The victims are soldiers who survived the horrors of the Great War only to meet a ghastly end in the quiet English countryside two years later. Each had been garroted, with small ID disks left in their mouths. But even Scotland Yard's presence doesn't deter this vicious and clever killer.

Marie says: "The best in the series"
    "Great listen.."
What made the experience of listening to A Lonely Death the most enjoyable?

My husband and I take long road trips and we enjoy listening to books when we are on the road.. The narator was a joy to listen too. If you enjoy a who done it novel this was awsome... Alot of twists and turns keeps you interested... I would call it a page turner..

Who was your favorite character and why?

Inspector Ian Rutledge... He was the main character .

Have you listened to any of Simon Prebble’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Not sure

    Any additional comments?

I'm not used to writing reviews but hope this is helpful..

  • A Royal Pain: A Royal Spyness Mystery

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 57 mins)
    • By Rhys Bowen
    • Narrated By Katherine Kellgren

The Queen of England has concocted a plan in which penniless aristocrat Lady Georgie is to entertain a Bavarian princess and conveniently place her in the playboy prince's path, in the hopes that he might finally marry.

But queens never take money into account. Georgie has very little, which is why she moonlights as a maid-in-disguise.

Coffee Lover says: "More Royal Fun!"
    "A great listen"
Would you listen to A Royal Pain again? Why?

Maybe... I usually don't reread mystery books since I already know the ending...But I would read the next book....

What did you like best about this story?

I love the on going relationship of Georgie and Darcy..Always wondering if they will end up together...

What about Katherine Kellgren’s performance did you like?

Katerine does a great job with all the accents and attitudes she has to perform..I do enjoy listening to her..

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Mostly makes me laugh... the things this girl gets into just by being related to the throne and trying to survive in a pre WWII era. Very interesting...

    Any additional comments?

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a fun and light read... It's not to dark for a mystery and that is because of the main character and her personality. I also think it has a little romance to keep you guessing as well as the case...Just overall fun listen...
