I have to be honest, I had to listen to the first part of the book a few times before I thought I knew what was going on. After I finished the book, I went back to the beginning and it then made all the sense in the world. So after that statement - the book was a great read, and I was sorry when it ended.

Jodi Picoult delivers the riveting tale of one small town's entanglement with high-school violence.

New York Superior Court Judge Alex Cormier is assigned to preside over the case of the alleged Sterling High School shooter. Lawyer Jordan McAffee represents Peter, the boy who, on the day of the shooting, was found in the corner of the gymnasium holding a gun to his head with a shaky hand. Detective Patrick DuCharme has one star witness, but her story keeps changing. And then there's the biggest problem of all: the star witness happens to be Judge Cormier's daughter.

Although the author has a pretty unique way of shocking you at the end, and when you think you figured out the twist to come - it twists in more ways than you can imagine. I cannot wait for the next book.

I almost didn't purchase this book because of the other reviews. At first I was wondering 'what is going to happen'; When 'it' happened it was done masterfully. This story is a roller coaster ride and definitely worth a re-read if you thought it wasn't a great book. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and cannot wait to read Straub's other book.

It's a fear more paralyzing than falling. More terrifying than absolute darkness. More horrifying than anything you can imagine. It's the one fear you cannot escape, no matter where you run...no matter where you hide. It's the fear of yourself. It's real. It can happen to you. And facing it can be deadly.

A vicious 15-year-old droog is the central character of this 1963 classic, a frightening fable about good and evil, and the meaning of human freedom. In Anthony Burgess' nightmare vision of the future, where the criminals take over after dark, the story is told by the central character, Alex, who talks in a brutal invented slang that brilliantly renders his and his friends' social pathology.

Although this was a recommendation through Audible, I disliked it so much that I couldn't listen to more than the first few chapters. Too much violence for me (at least I think that's what they were talking about)!

The book was very captivating, there was one or two scenes in the story that made me blush (call me a prude). The work is very good; I would buy it again.
