In a voice both haunting and startlingly immediate, Nitta Sayuri describes her life as a geisha. Taken from her home at the age of nine, she is sold into slavery to a renowned geisha house. Witness her transformation as you enter a world where appearances are paramount, virginity is auctioned to the highest bidder, women beguile powerful men, and love is scorned as illusion.

An absolutely fantastic journey into a world of heritage, culture, self-discovery, passion, emotion.....well, need I say more! Bernadette Dunne is an excellent narrator, who catapults you alongside each step of Sayuri' life. The author, Mr. Golden, is a masterful, vivid writer. Immediately, upon listening to the first couple of minutes, I was transported into each segment of the story.

I am a Premium subscriber with hundreds of logged listening hours of fine books. This is the first time that I was moved enough by a great book to take the time to tell the world what a fine work of art Mr. Golden has given us. I can't wait to see the movie!

The cause of the devastation is a phenomenon that will come to be known as The Pulse, and the delivery method is a cell phone. Everyone's cell phone. Clay and the few desperate survivors who join him suddenly find themselves in the pitch-black night of civilization's darkest age, surrounded by chaos, carnage, and a human horde that has been reduced to its basest nature...and then begins to evolve.

As usual, an excellent book by King! How many times have I thought what would happen if we didn't have cell phones, or what if we were poisoned via digital methods via our cell phones. This book only validates that I am not yet insane, but rather have a vivid imagination (although, I briefly looked at my teenager and shuddered at the very thought of a world without this age bracket).

The book was excellent, and I look forward to King's next near-life adventure! BRAVO!

    Overall

The book was marvelous. It had a little bit of everything suspense, education, mystery...just enough to keep you at the edge waiting for the next chapter to unfold. Without giving away to the ending, I didn't want to go on thinking that all that was worked for went down the tubes, but what a GREAT ending!

What a great book to keep you entertained, yet engaged as each chapter builds its mysterious cliff hanger. The narrator is so perfect for the story. She is articulate and has the right tone for each character. Bravo on this selection.

Witty, funny, engaging, light mystery....what more could I ask for!

The author is a 'keep-you-at-your-seat's-edge type of writer. He is excellent.

The book was captivating and full of action and suspense. I have yet to read a book from Mr. Brown's collection that wasn't everything promised in the editorial.

You won't be able to put the book away!

Nick Conover, the son of a factory worker, is the CEO of a major corporation in a company town. Nick, once the most admired man in Fenwick, Michigan, is now, having presided over massive layoffs, the most despised. A single parent since the recent death of his wife, he's struggling to insulate his 10-year-old daughter and angry 16-year-old son from the town's hostility.

The end was a dead give-away before the story ended. That was the disappointing part. The book kept you paced, with a few twists here and there. I can't honestly say that the ending give-away would have given the book a better rating.
