Southern Afghanistan was slipping away. That was clear to then-Captain Rusty Bradley as he began his third tour of duty there in 2006. The Taliban and their allies were infiltrating everywhere, poised to reclaim Kandahar Province, their strategically vital onetime capital. To stop them, the NATO coalition launched Operation Medusa, the largest offensive in its history. The battlefield was the Panjwayi Valley, a densely packed warren of walled compounds that doubled neatly as enemy bunkers.

Where does Lions of Kandahar rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best I have listened to. I felt like I was right there in the battle through the entire book.

What did you like best about this story?

It was both factual and credible. Having spent 20 years in the Special Forces, I know that this story and the terminology are from real Special Forces soldiers.

What does Eric G. Dove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He plays the parts of many of the characters, to include accents.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    As real as it gets.

The anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts one of the most dramatic stories in American history—how one gunshot changed the country forever. In the spring of 1865, the bloody saga of America's Civil War finally comes to an end after a series of increasingly harrowing battles. President Abraham Lincoln's generous terms for Robert E. Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices are not appeased....

More than a million listeners have thrilled to Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln, the can't-stop-listening work of nonfiction about the shocking assassination that changed the course of American history. Now the anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts in gripping detail the brutal murder of John Fitzgerald Kennedy—and how a sequence of gunshots on a Dallas afternoon not only killed a beloved president but also sent the nation into the cataclysmic division of the Vietnam War and its culture-changing aftermath.

Would you consider the audio edition of No Easy Day to be better than the print version?

Yes, it was. I do alot of long-distance driving and listening really helps to pass the time. Narration was excellent!

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character because he was easy to follow and, being former Special Operations myself, I could easily relate to him. I can tell that he was factual, honest and humble in his writing.

What about Holter Graham’s performance did you like?

His ability to change his tone to reflect different people and situations at the appropriate time.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I enjoyed the entire book but I appreciated the authors comments at the end. He is a humble man and a true Special Operations Professional.

    Any additional comments?

Having spent 20 years as an Army Green Beret, it's pretty easy to separate the B.S. and the blow-hards from the real deal. This book tells the truth using terms that made me feel like I was back on a team again.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared.....

What did you love best about Unbroken?

So well written that you actually feel like you're there.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Would have to be the main character

Have you listened to any of Edward Herrmann’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Narration was excellent.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really any reaction but certainly kept my attention.

    Any additional comments?

I needed to drive for 8 hours from Woodbridge, VA to Asheville, NC. recently. I listened to the first half of the book on the way down and actually finished the book as I was pulling into the parking lot at home on the return trip. Really made the trip a pleasure! I already have another book downloaded for my next trip!
