I love Ron Silver's narration, but there was just too much anger and weird stuff in the story for me to continue listening. Though I certainly know him by reputation, this is the first Roth book I've 'read' so maybe they are all like this. If i had been actually reading it, I would have skipped ahead in parts but can't do that with my older-style ipod. Maybe someday I will go back to it.
The narration is fantastic. I will remember the voice and the accents forever. Was a little wordy and longwinded in parts (painful actually) but overall I enjoyed it greatly.
I went into this blind, and bought it based on the other reviews. It was funny, compelling and the narration was terrific. My only complaint is that I had to turn up the volume often when Rosie's words were spoken.
I hope she makes this a series! The story was enthralling and fun and the narrator was fabulous. I look forward to more. As we know, the author is great at writing series.
The narration of this book was harsh and loud. The story was interesting enough and I did listen all the way through, but wouldn't recommend it because it just wasn't enjoyable. I have read other books by James McBride and liked them.
One of the best I have listened to! Laugh out loud funny, and touching at the same time., the story is excellent and draws you in immediately. The narrator was excellent with both male and female characters. I highly recommend this listen!
Like the Paris Wife, a compelling story of the wife of F Scott Fitzgerald, and another who suffers as the wife. The narrator does an excellent job with Zelda, though the portrayal of Scott wasn't as good and sounded rather forced. I would recommend this book/listen.
I really liked the story and the narration was excellent. The voice was perfect. The story was compellling and fun. I would definitely say this is chick lit. The one flaw in the story is lack of medical attention, but it doesn't really matter in the long run.
Bronson Pinchot does a great job with all the voices in the story which is compelling and surprising. I very much enjoyed this book.
While Scott Brick did such a great job in Lions Game and Night Fall, he is very disappointing here. He makes John Corey sound so smug and totally overreads the character so that he sounds like a SNL character. I had to stop listening after about 35 minutes.
