Very rarely, an audiobook comes along that I just cannot finish. This was one of those. Each chapter is way too long and it just became monotonous. Obviously, other listeners enjoyed it, but after listening to half of it, I had to stop.
I thought this was a very nice story of two lonely people who cannot figure out what they want in life, coming together in an unexpected event. The development of the characters was very well done. I would definitely recommend this.
I was turned on to Ann Rule's books through the 2KnitLitChicks podcast. I am so glad that I found this! I love true crime drama and this just satisfied my quest for it. Although I may have been familiar to this story through a 48 Hours Mystery episode, I still found it chilling. The narration was perfect, with the right tones at the right times. I'll definitely read more of Ms. Rule's books!
This story captivated me in a way that no other book ever has, written or audio. Whether I was sitting at home listening to it or driving in the car, I was totally mesmerized. The narrator who did the boy's voice was superb. In fact, I think that those who listen to this receive a better experience than those who read the book. Buy this audio book!
I enjoyed the relationship between the two women, even thought it was a bit drawn out and a little bit predictable. The narrator was fabulous. I look forward to listening to her read other books.
For the first several chapters, I wondered what was the plot of this book and almost turned it off. But then, the "incident," and I was completely absorbed in this to the very end.
The topic was an interesting one to ponder. Whose position would I take on this was a thought that I held throughout the book. The author's presentation was so well done that she made both sides very strong. I totally enjoyed this book.
It was nicely narrated by Cynthia Nixon, which is why I wanted to listen to it. It is a nice story, too, but so very predictable. Good brain candy, but that's about the extent of it.
