Blackstock really knows how to continue a saga seamlessly. We pick the characters right back up from the book before and continue on. The characters grow as they face the trials and turn to God. My next purchase will be the next book in this series. Great job, Terri Blackstock!
I love Georgi's spunk! She was "bred" to be a royal pet, yet finds herself destitute during bad economic times (the 30s). She just attacks life! I like her loyalty to those in her family and getting to "know" those around her. She uses her wits to solve the mystery as well as figure a way to survive. I intend to keep listening to this series. It was read exceedingly well -- just jolly good fun!
Just like an ice cream sundae, which is yummy to taste but not very nutritious, this book is just fun. It's like a brain vacation! If you're looking for something deep and challenging, this is not the book for you! I enjoyed the characters and the story was good. I really like the narrator. I'm used to her in the Stephanie Plum novels. She's great! Again, if you're looking for dessert, get this book and have fun!
I'm a huge Grisholm fan. That said, I downloaded this book as soon as it was available. I liked that you never really knew what was going to happen. That was fun. What I didn't like was the endless preaching about how BAD the government is. If I want a lecture on that, I can just watch the evening news! It was also hard to tell who the good guys were. It was an OK book, but not Grisholm's best by far. Just my opinion. . .
I have enjoyed the previous books in this thought-provoking, yet enjoyable series. I really wondered how it would end and what would happen if the power came back on. Would the characters revert back to their pre-outage selves, or would they keep the hard-learned lessons they had learned? The author stayed true to her theme of learning to rely on God throughout the previous books, so I hoped she would continue. The ending does not disappoint. Good series!
I enjoyed this book. The author gets you feeling for the characters and rooting for them. The story keeps your interest. I loved it how the husband puts his trust in God. This story is suspenseful, and the mystery is well written. I'm certainly going to listen to the next one!
First, I should say that I do enjoy Nicholas Spark's books. I'm a sucker for a love story, and his are great. "Safe Haven" gave me just what I wanted along those lines. You were rooting for the characters and felt invested in their lives (Spark's specialty). The thing that sets this book apart from the others was the surprise ending! I'm not going to tell, but I didn't see it coming. . .Enjoy!
I'm am so guilty of being over-dependent on time. I even sleep with my watch on! This book made me more aware of how futile it is and how I need to just enjoy each minute given to me. What would the world be like without the concept of time? Very interesting, thought-provoking and yet enjoyable book.
Dick Hill does a great Sam and Alan and even women. He's one of my favorite readers.
Stephen White gripped my attention from start to finish. He knows people and weaves amazing story lines until they collide! I want more Alan Gregory!
True to form!
I enjoyed hearing about Spenser, Susan, Hawke, Pearl and all the rest. I always love the way Spenser keeps picking and picking until it all shakes out. The way he respected the young girl and stood up for her was endearing.
Joe Mantegna MAKES the Spenser books. He IS Spenser to me.
The only detriment was the language. It was kind of embarassing to have that language coming out of my Ipod player. I sure couldn't listen to this book around anyone else. I hope the author will temper it (especially the F bomb) in the next books. The bad language did NOT add anything to the story.
