  • Outcast Mine

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 4 mins)
    • By Jamie Craig
    • Narrated By Jack LeFleur
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

There is nothing Aleron Pitre can’t steal, nobody he can’t con and no situation he can’t slip out of until he’s sent to the prison planet Tantoret, where every sentence is death. If the prisoners don’t kill each other, they’ll die slowly and painfully from mining the poisonous drug chojal. Yet Aleron still hopes that he can escape.

    Joseph Lance Tonlet says: "Awesome!"
"Well written, action, suspense & emerging love"
Would you listen to Outcast Mine again? Why?

The story builds quickly and believably captivating the reader to the point where it's impossible to stop listening.

What did you like best about this story?

The feelings emerging inside the two main characters are actually palpable. The emotional content is riveting. It's simply impossible to listen to this book casually!

Which character – as performed by Jack LeFleur – was your favorite?

It's not possible to favor one male lead over the other. Rather, the listener loves them both, each for their unique characteristics.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Without a doubt, and re-listen as soon as the first listen was over.

    Any additional comments?

A book I will treasure always.

  • The Hired Man

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 55 mins)
    • By Jan Irving
    • Narrated By Erik Braa
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Reverend Ian Kenyon knows the harsh sting of life and how a man can suffer a loss of faith. The death of his wife and son shook him to his foundations, and he's been drifting ever since. Bryn Morgan has returned home from prison to the only family he has—an abusive father. Reluctantly moved by Bryn's plight, Ian hires the young man to work on his farm. Soon Ian fears his growing feelings of grace and compassion might be something else, something more... heated.

    L. Hew says: "Surprisingly amazing"
    "Captivating from the start!"
If you could sum up The Hired Man in three words, what would they be?

    Believable, compelling, stimulating

What other book might you compare The Hired Man to and why?

Unlike any other book, this has rich threads of suspense, deep emotion and some twists and turns which keep the listener riveted to the story. Set in the historical context of the early United States, the descriptive elements of the story provide a feeling that listener is actually watching the story unfold. The characters feel real and the lives they live are three dimensional making this one of very best books in it's genre. There really is no other book to compare this to.

What does Erik Braa bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr. Braa's rich, masculine and true voice bring the characters to life. His narration creates a complete experience bringing the listener center stage. He demonstrates the remarkable ability to make each character real. It's like being there, on the inside of the tale.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It's so easy to identify with different aspects of each character; their struggles, pain, joy, and conflict are immediately felt by the listener. It is truly a remarkable book.

    Any additional comments?

    Highly recommend this one!

  • A Year in the Merde

    • ABRIDGED (4 hrs and 58 mins)
    • By Stephen Clarke
    • Narrated By Gerard Doyle

A Year in the Merde is the almost-true account of the author's adventures as an expat in Paris. Based loosely on his own experiences and with names changed to "avoid embarrassment, possible legal action, and to prevent the author's legs being broken by someone in a Yves Saint Laurent suit (or quite possibly, a Christian Dior skirt)", A Year in the Merde is the story of Paul West, a 27-year-old Brit who is brought to Paris by a French company to open a chain of British "tea rooms".

    Courtney says: "Delicious!"
    "One of a kind"

A remarkably entertaining story about a young Englishman who finds himself living in France trying to sort out who he is, what he's doing there, and oh yes, how in the world this culture actually works. At times hilariously funny. A captivating and lighthearted listen which I've come back to time and again. The narration by Gerard Doyle is beyond compare.

    • Narrated By Scott Brick
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Fourteen-year-old Max Murphy is looking forward to a family vacation. But his parents, both archaeologists and Maya experts, announce a change in plan. They must leave immediately for a dig in the tiny Central American country of San Xavier. Max will go to summer camp. Max is furious. When he's mysteriously summoned to San Xavier, he thinks they've had a change of heart.

Amazon Customer says: "The Jag Stones"
    "Fantastic & Suspenseful"

A remarkably captivating story which is difficult to stop listeing to. I've listened to this one at least 4 times already. Anxious to hear the next book which is now out. This is a book you just can't get enough of. The authors really know how to capture the reader (listener) and the narration is simply superb!
