Tom Wolfe's best-selling modern classic tells the story of Sherman McCoy, an elite Wall Street bond trader who has it all: wealth, power, prestige, a Park Avenue apartment, a beautiful wife, and an even more beautiful mistress - until one wrong turn sends Sherman spiraling downward into a humiliating fall from grace. A car accident in the Bronx involving Sherman, his girlfriend, and two young lower-class black men sets a match to the incendiary racial and social tensions of 1980s New York City.

    JOHN says: "TEN STARS"
    "fabulous narration"

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Joe Barrett is a brilliant narrator, I am impressed by his ability to impersonate so many different characters so authentically. I'll look for more books narrated by him.

When world-class biblical scholar Bart Ehrman first began to study the texts of the Bible in their original languages he was startled to discover the multitude of mistakes and intentional alterations that had been made by earlier translators. In Misquoting Jesus, Ehrman tells the story behind the mistakes and changes that ancient scribes made to the New Testament and shows the great impact they had upon the Bible we use today.

    R. J. Monts says: "a (mostly) balanced discussion"

Anyone with any interest in Christianity and/or the bible must read/listen to this book. Bart Ehrman has undertaken a mind boggling analysis of the data, and I am stunned by what his research has revealed. And grateful for his hard work!

No student of religion should be without this gem.

Dubbed the American Tolkien by Time magazine, George R. R. Martin has earned international acclaim for his monumental cycle of epic fantasy. Now the number-one New York Times best-selling author delivers the fifth book in his spellbinding landmark series - as both familiar faces and surprising new forces vie for a foothold in a fragmented empire.

Ryan says: "Enjoyable, but a lot of setup"

I just love this series. And I'm glad Roy Dotrice is back-but I must agree with the other reviewers about the change in Danaerys voice! Ack! Perhaps there is a reason though-maybe in the future books, she'll be older, and the new voice will suit.

Please, George RR Martin, sir, keep writing!

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

I'm angry about this book. I'm angry at the reviews! I just do not believe andy science fiction/fantasy fans over say,18, really liked this book. I've read the 5 star reviews and can hardly believe we're talking about the same book, but there are too many of them for me to believe they're all fake.

I'm a fussy reader/listener, and maybe even a bit of a literary snob, but this book is just bad.

  • 11-22-63: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (30 hrs and 44 mins)

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

What a great performance by Craig Wasson! I enjoyed this novel a great deal, even though I'm not a huge Stephen King fan. Even though it's a long book, it's not overly 'fluffy'.
