Before Harry Potter there was Nita and Kit. This story is wonderfully diverse and does an outstanding job of explaining just how magic and wizards might exist in our own reality. Well worth the listen, for both children and adults.
We bought this audiobook because we both enjoyed the actual book. Friday is a wonderful story, some of Heinlein's best work, unfortunately, this production is almost unlistenable. The audio quality is awful, with a constant background hiss, even at the higher levels. The narrator sounds as if he needs a nap, with constant yawns and pauses within the reading. His breathing sounds were louder than his voice in parts. And just who thought that it was a good idea to have a male read a story that is mostly female first person POV? It would be much improved if they dropped Edward Lewis and got a good female Narrator.
Read the book instead.
The concept is very interesting and well developed, but I agree with a previous reviewer that there are a number of plot holes. Also, she tended to 'dumb down' the adult charaters at times, which I found annoying.
The writing and use of language is outstanding though, and Lynn Redgrave's narration completely drew me in.
