This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

The ever present background music makes it difficult for anyone to listen!

What do you think your next listen will be?

    1Q84

What didn’t you like about Alba Sola’s performance?

Alba Sola was all right, but anything she did was overshadowed by the impossible muzak in the background.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from El Ángel Perdido [The Lost Angel]?

I would have cut out the background music!

    Any additional comments?

It is not the best book I have read, but I could have enjoyed listening to the Spanish if it hadn't been for the muzak.I think Audible should warn with capital letters whenever there is muzak added.

Nineteen-year-old Jovan Mosley, a good kid from one of Chicago's very bad neighborhoods, was coerced into confessing to a crime he didn't commit. Charged with murder, he spent five years and eight months in a prison for violent criminals. Without a trial. Jovan grew up on the rough streets of Chicago's Southeast Side. With one brother dead of HIV complications, another in jail for arson and murder, and most kids his age in gangs, Jovan struggled to be different. Until his arrest, he was.

Would you listen to Long Way Home again? Why?

    Listening once was good enough.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The unbelievable story of how bad the judicial system works in Chicago.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

First I thought the narrator was all too unprofessional. But then I realized this was a true story and told by one of the participants. That made quite a difference and it was suddenly OK listening to the rather flat voice.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Don't believe innocence will save you!

    Any additional comments?

I liked the book, but when I bought it a thought a bought a novel. I don't understand why it wasn't presented as a documentary.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

What was most disappointing about Gillian Flynn’s story?

This is a story written in a sad and worrisome North American tradition: that of girls and women portrayed as evil and manipulating. How is it that misogynistic views flourish abundantly in tv series and literature in the USA?

    Any additional comments?

I recommend USA readers to try reading European and African writers. They will find a whole new concept of women!
