I've been looking for good audio books after BDB series and found this almost on par. It was entertaining and worth the credit.
This was my first Haruki Murukami story that set off a Murukami Marathon that ended on my last book, Wild Sheep Chase, after ten others. I loved these marvelous unique mysteries and incredible characters and although I later decided that the Wind Up Bird Chronicals are my favorite, I have never gotten over my all time favorite character in this novel Aomame. I thought about her in between reads and felt a huge loss at the end of the story. I still like to think that I eat a little better and stretch a little more because of her and if I needed to I might use a long needle to defend myself.
The female character is whiney and sooo not funny, the vampire has a stereo-typical transilvanian accent and the whole story is about as interesting as a bucket of warm spit. move on to something, try patricia briggs, now that woman can write!
Really enjoyable, I didn't know what to expect but was very pleased. J.R. Ward is such a good writer.
I can't tell you how many times I rolled my eyes and groaned when the repetitive ramble began about how stoic these characters are.
I just couldn't get past the narrator, it was just so slow & mundane.
