Scott Brick is to Isaac Bell what Clark Kent is to Superman. What an unbelievable journey across these vast plains at the turn of the century. Rich characters, scenery and dialog. You really feel as though you are on the train and taking part in the Van Dorn investigation. Can't wait to finish the Chase.
Some of the best audio books I've listened to are from John Sandford. If he keeps writing about Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers I'll be a pretty happy guy. The books are just plain great. And Ferrone is Davenport and Flowers - wouldn't be the same without him.
As usual I always think I can figure out how the story will unfold. I never do and and am always fascinated at how Mr. Sandford builds more twists into the books than Chubby Checkers.
Leddie (sp) taking care of business at the end.
Prey for me
My sincerest compliments to Mr. Sanford. I believe I have either read or listened to every Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers book he has written. Looking forward to your new Flowers story in the fall. Marc Hamilton, St. Louis MO
Purchased this because of Scott Brick. Even he can't save this long-winded narrative. The characters spent 45 minutes in the vault in the first part of the book. I really got tired of the repetitiveness of the narration. I have never given up on a Scott Brick read novel but this one is history after nearly 3 hours of walking with my iPod and hoping for a more exciting and faced-paced book.
Simply put, a great book.
Simon Vance brings these extraordinary characters to life in this brilliant work. Stieg Larsson is a master writer. This is a book I will listen to again in a year or so.
This one of the best audible books I have listened to. And it is one of nearly 300 books I have downloaded from Audible.com
This was a really tough case for Harry Bosch but as usual he comes through as usual.
Slow start but otherwise a spellbinder. A story of murder, greed, revenge and identity switching that I found most enjoyable. Mr. Archer did a wonderful job of creating the characters whom Mr. Allam so skillfully brought to life.
I have purchased and downloaded more than 200 audio books from audible.com and Swan Peak is clearly one of my favorites. The main characters (Dave Robicheaux and his buddy Clete Purcel) are arguably some of the darkest, complex and disturbing gents you will ever meet. Every time I thought I'd figured out this complex plot I was thrown another curve by Mr. Burke. This is without a doubt a real keeper.
Five stars - An exception work of fiction. Compelling story and virtual tour of 13th century England. Follett really delivers with this masterpiece. My first review after more than 200 downloads. Don’t be put off by the length. You will be wishing it were even longer. Am ready to tackle World Without End next.
