This was my first book by the author. I am glad I was taken in by all of the hype. Even though the beginning of the book is tough to get through because of the hardship Ash goes through, it allows the reader to sympathize with Ash and love him more. Great narration!

First appearing in print in 1890, the character of Sherlock Holmes has now become synonymous worldwide with the concept of a super sleuth. His creator, Conan Doyle, imbued his detective hero with intellectual power, acute observational abilities, a penchant for deductive reasoning and a highly educated use of forensic skills. Indeed, Doyle created the first fictional private detective who used what we now recognize as modern scientific investigative techniques.

For the three years Shadow spent in prison, all he wanted was to get back to the loving arms of his wife and stay out of trouble for the rest of his life. But days before his release, he learns that his wife has been killed in an accident, and his world becomes a colder place.

Shame on you Audible Editors. I typically enjoy the books on the Audible Editors list of Essentials. However, this one is awful! There are so many interludes and side stories that the listener has difficulty knowing where she is or how she got there at any given time. It seems as if Gaiman wanted to write numerous short stories. Too bad he did not do a better job stringing them together. It did not help that the characters were shallow and underdeveloped.

Two thousand years ago, Mary Magdalene hid a set of scrolls in the French Pyrenees: the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, her version of the life of Jesus and the events of the New Testament. Protected by supernatural forces, these sacred scrolls could be uncovered only by a special seeker, one who fulfills the ancient prophecy of L'Attendu, the Expected One.

I could not finish it. The narrator's atttempt at accents is annoying at best. The story line that I made it through was unoriginal and not enough to keep the listener engaged.
