Shelby Nichols is an average woman who is married to the only guy she ever fell for. Her life is organized and predictable, revolving around her husband and two children. All that changes the day she stops at the grocery store for some carrots. As the cashier rings up her purchases, a gunman is busy robbing the bank inside the store. When a customer grabs the robber's mask, he is shot and everyone runs for cover. Everyone except Shelby, who finds herself face to face with the killer.

This book is not action packed, nor is it a smothering romance... It follows the actions of Shelby, after life dropped kicked her leaving her a parting gift, the ability not so much to read minds as to intercept thoughts. Now it's time for her to put on her big girls panties, kickass boots and develop moxie. In order not to simply keep her and hers safe, but to come out on top... Wiseguys, criminals, and thiefs (in the broad use of the word) beware, here begins the adventures of Shelby Nichols...

With human civilization annihilated by a biological zombie plague, a rag-tag fleet of yachts and freighters known as Wolf Squadron scours the Atlantic, searching for survivors. Within every abandoned liner and carrier lurks a potential horde, safety can never be taken for granted, and death and turning into one of the enemy is only a moment away. Yet every ship and town holds the flickering hope of survivors. One and two from lifeboats, a dozen from a fishing village, a few hundred wrenched by fury and fire from a ship that once housed thousands....

It has very interesting set of characters, cool Sofia, Jinx-like Faith(google GET JINXED!) if a bit on the conservative side(pro-military/stupid liberals). If you can stomach that you'll enjoy the action, and some of the military humor. You'll have a front first seat to how Wolf squadron meets challenges/rs head on. As to zombie lore, it is pretty accurate for virus based zombies and the manner of dealing with them(GO KUKRI).

In the dark winter of 1917, as World War I was deadlocked, Britain knew that Europe could be saved only if the United States joined the war. But President Wilson remained unshakable in his neutrality. Then, with a single stroke, the tool to propel America into the war came into a quiet British office. One of countless messages intercepted by the crack team of British decoders, the Zimmermann telegram was a top-secret message from Berlin inviting Mexico to join Japan in an invasion of the United States.

Mike From Mesa says: "US entry to World War I"
"Back story to the infamos telegram..."
    Overall

The sound is fair, takes some getting used to. Most people are aware of how the first world war got started, monarch is killed by a nationalist. Few know how the US got drawn into the war, was it the sinking of merchant ships, black operations in part of Germany, or a telegram... like most serious problems in the world it was most likely due to several reasons rather than just one. This book deals mainly with mainly one yet still shows the relevance of the others...

Charles Mee, Jr. reproduces seven singular moments when heads of state have come together to decide the future of the world: Pope Leo and Attila the Hun; Henry VIII and Francis I; Cortes and Montezuma; Metternich and Talleyrand; Wilson, Clemenceau and Lloyd George; Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt; and Gorbachev and the G7 nations.

Brian says: "Very poor sound quality"

    Overall

To be blunt... the audio quality makes the listening of the book... sound like a cassette player just as it's running out of juice... to the point that one starts to tune it out... whether the book is any good, didn't stick around to find out...
