The two young intelligence officers, trained in their respective spy schools, collide in a charged atmosphere of tradecraft, deception, and inevitably, a forbidden spiral of carnal attraction that threatens their careers and the security of America's valuable mole in Moscow.

"Whether by design or by chance," Terryl and Fiona Givens write, "we find ourselves in a universe filled with mystery. We encounter appealing arguments for a Divinity that is a childish projection, for prophets as scheming or deluded imposters, and for scripture as so much fabulous fiction. But there is also compelling evidence that a glorious Divinity presides over the cosmos, that His angels are strangers we have entertained unawares, and that His word and will are made manifest through a sacred canon that is never definitively closed."

I am left with greater awe about the love of God for his children. The writing seems poetic rather than analytical . Overall, the performance was excellent and it invites me to listen again and again. Great book

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

This book has great characters, plot twists galore and I didn't want it to end. The narrator was truly amazing--among the best. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

  • The Way of Kings: Book One of The Stormlight Archive

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the ten consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

What made the experience of listening to The Way of Kings the most enjoyable?

The narrators were excellent handling a variety of characters with some great voices, especially Michael Kramer. The plot and characters are very well developed and there are so many pieces to the puzzle deftly woven into the story. Even the supporting cast of characters are great.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Way of Kings?

How it ended. Those last four or five chapters were amazing

    Which scene was your favorite?

The battle near the end of the book involving Calladin (sp?) and Delanar (sp?) (When I listen to a fantasy book with newly created names, spelling them correctly is not easy.) The book took flight in so many ways as so many of the subtle details given early in the book explode in meaning and connection.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The battle near the end of the book, the confrontation Delanar had with Thaddeus and finally the conversation that Delanar had with Calladin after the battle.

    Any additional comments?

I would recommend the book, but be prepared to want to listen another 48 hours to the next book in the series. it is easy to get hooked.

  • The Book Thief

It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I loved this book. I loved the narrator. I listened to it after seeing the movie and I am so lad I listened to the book. The movie was great but the book is even better. The prose at times is like poetry. I really was moved by the experience of listening to this book and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

What other book might you compare The Book Thief to and why?

I can't think of a book to compare it with. I didn't want my experience with these characters to end. The last 20 minutes was so sad not only because of what happened but because I knew the book was coming to an end.

Which character – as performed by Allan Corduner – was your favorite?

I loved Rudy, Hans, Liesel, Max, even Rosa. It felt like this happened. These characters were so real to me.

If you could take any character from The Book Thief out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I would love to take Rudy and Liesel out together one night and Hans, Max and Liesel another night.
