The Arcane Brotherhood has long held the city of Luskan in their power, but when corruption eats away at their ranks, Captain Deudermont comes to the rescue of a city that has become a safe haven for the Sword Coast's most dangerous pirates. But rescuing a city from itself may not be as easy as Deudermont thinks, and when Drizzt can't talk him out of it, he'll be forced to help.

If you could sum up The Pirate King in three words, what would they be?

    Very awesome story!!

What other book might you compare The Pirate King to and why?

There is no comparison for Drizzt except other Drizzt books!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mark Bramhall?

    Victor Bevine

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    Several places throughout the book.

    Any additional comments?

I love these books and was looking very forward to hearing the Pirate King, but when I started listening, I was floored by this narrator. He may be a good narrator in another kind of book but he does not even pronounce the words correctly. I am having trouble concentrating on the book because of his way of narrating. I have read the book and I know that it is a fantastic story but this narrator is ruining it!!!

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I don't think anyone who has ever read Anne McCaffrey's books about Dragon Riders would ever enjoy this book. I can't think of anyone I know who would enjoy this book.

What was most disappointing about Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey ’s story?

The most disappointing thing about this book is that it was not about dragon riding or thread or any of the things these books are supposed to be about. It was about a lesbian relationship, envy, and jealously. If I want to listen to a book about these things then I will pick one out. I could not even finish this book because it was so bogged down in other factors.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Emily Durante?

    Kate Reading

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment that this book was not about what I thought it would be and anger because it did not tell you what the book was really like.

    Any additional comments?

I don't usually pay attention to reviews when I pick out a book but in this case I was really wrong not to. I will read every review from now on unless I know the author and am familiar with the writings.

No outsiders are ever admitted to the monastery of Saint-Gilbert-Entre-les-Loups, hidden deep in the wilderness of Quebec, where two dozen cloistered monks live in peace and prayer. They grow vegetables, they tend chickens, they make chocolate. And they sing. Ironically, for a community that has taken a vow of silence, the monks have become world-famous for their glorious voices, raised in ancient chants whose effect on both singer and listener is so profound it is known as “the beautiful mystery.”

Would you consider the audio edition of The Beautiful Mystery to be better than the print version?

The audio edition of 99% of the books I have listened to are definitely better than the printed version. I can still use my imagination on the audio books as well as the printed versions.

What other book might you compare The Beautiful Mystery to and why?

I would compare these books to the Pendergast series because the (hero) in both series is beset by higher ups who want them to fail.

Have you listened to any of Ralph Cosham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any other books Ralph Cosham has narrated because, once I latch on to a series, I am afraid to venture into any others.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, when the helicopter flew away from Gamache who was heart broken.

    Any additional comments?

I would really like to see Inspector Gamache win out against his superiors once in a while.

In Frankenstein: Lost Souls, Dean Koontz puts a singular twist on this classic tale of ambition and science gone wrong, to forge a new legend uniquely suited to our times. It is a story of revenge, redemption, and the thin line that separates human from inhuman.

The company chairman lay on the cold ground of the woods, his eyes unseeing, his orange hunting jacket punctured by a rifle bullet at close range. Around him stood the four executives with whom he had been hunting, each with his or her own complicated agenda, each with a reason not to be sorrowful about the man's death.

Would you consider the audio edition of Secret Prey to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version.

What other book might you compare Secret Prey to and why?

I don't compare the Prey series to any other book because they are unique.

Which character ??? as performed by Stephen Lang ??? was your favorite?

    Lucas Davenport

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not necessarily because the whole book is interesting.

    Any additional comments?

The Prey series is addictive. All the characters in this series will make you laugh and also make you mad and sad. Stephen Lang is the best narrator of the series because he has a distinctive voice and can make you see what is happening.

  • Temple of the Winds: Sword of Truth, Book 4

The dangerous, fanatical Imperial Order, under the leadership of the power-mad Emperor Jagang and his multitude of demonic underlings, unleashes a deadly plague. To find a cure, Richard Cypher and his beloved Kahlan Amnell must seek out the legendary Temple of the Winds, a fortress of evil sealed away for three thousand years. But the path of the Seeker of Truth is never an easy one - even if he can reach the Temple at all, there is no guarantee he'll ever return.

Danielle says: "Good book, poor narration"
    "Narrators are important"
    Overall

This book would probably have been as good as the other Sword of Truth books but the narrator pronounced the names of the characters wrong and I had to think about who he was talking about. Narrators should listen to previous books to at least pronounce the names of characters the same as the other books. I had to force myself to listen to the book and I did not get as much enjoyment out of it as I did the preceeding books.
