cant think of anyone other than a teenager, and a young teenager at that.
Intonations were very distracting.
nice story line, but the characters needed updating real bad. Difficult to believe a 6 year old had such a vocabulary, and behaviors.
I didn't really like this book when I read it when it first came out. I have read every thing SK has written, some good some uhh -not-so-good. This book fell into the latter category. However, the narrator seriously made this book happen. Even a bad book can be made great by its deliverence and Steven Weber made a rather cheesy book fantastik!
Oh yes. overall, I like his stuff, even if in his old age he is getting rather predictable. I will still give him the chance to get a good one in.
I do not think I have listened to Steven Weber before. I would have to check my library, but I most certainly will look to see if he has anything else out and would get it in a heart beat.
Yes It wasn't all bad, just seemed to really stretch the activities and believabilities of 12 year old children.
I cant think of any book it compares to
A real thought provoking book. Made me think.
Probably not Martha Miller, but would not mind listening to Bernadette Dunne read another book.
I don't much care for the steriotype that was portrayed. Also the good and "bad" guys, as three Lesbians? Nah, would rather have had a straight character vs a gay character, but their sexuality be a secondary theme and incidental at best.
I liked the main character Lois, and Sophie second.
Rather disappointed. Expected to read a good novel about Lesbian women but got the steriotypes as side characters. Lesbians, where I live, do not wear flannel, ever. That is an OLD image that we have struggled to alleviate, but here it is again, portrayed in a modern novel. Bummer.....I did like the reader, and wouldn't mind hearing her read another book.
ya, good entertainment. Nice adventure. Good escape model.
Oh no way!
neither. good adventure book
Good listen, but seemed too predictable.
Yes. why? so I can catch the few pieces of information that I missed while driving.
the finding of the sub
yes. unfortunately, he changed pitch between readings. But that was not insurmountable.
Very informative and exciting. I felt like I was with them on their discovery. Would highly recommend for and adventure in real life book.
The book caught me up right from the beginning, but the ending was a bit pitiful and dissapointing. Could have used a few more hows and why. Maybe that could have added some length to it. Not the best read I have ever had.
I found the book to be sophamorically predictable. Come on, a salt shaker in the pocket, really??? Puleeze..... Would not recomend anyone to purchase this book, though the person who read (Paul Giante) was very good, his story line was so lame, I only finished it because I paid for it. Really, don't waste your time purchasing, much less listen to this book.
I thought Orson Scott Card would have done a better job with this book. I felt it to be a bit lame in spots. Perhaps I missed the overview and it was meant to be read by a juvenile, as that was how it was written. It had some good points and entertainment value of 3 but was far too predictable and difficult to conceive as even remotely plausable which for me gives it an edge.
