  • Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon's Near-Death Experience and Journey into the Afterlife

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Eben Alexander
    • Narrated By Eben Alexander

On November 10, 2008, Dr. Eben Alexander was driven into coma by a disease so lethal that only 1 in 10,000,000 survive. Seven days later, he awakened with memories of a fantastic odyssey deep into another realm that were more real than this earthly one - memories that included meeting a deceased birth sister he had never known existed. Dr. Alexander deployed all his knowledge as a scientist to find out whether his mind could have played a trick on him. In its shutdown state, there was no way it could have.

    Kelly says: "Compelling"
"Amazing story that makes listeners think"
Would you consider the audio edition of Proof of Heaven to be better than the print version?

Yes, it's hard to read while driving.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the fact that as a scientist he provided all of the things that might have created his condition and experience, no matter how remote the chance, then went through each, step by step explaining why they couldn't have been the cause. It was very thorough.

Which character – as performed by Eben Alexander – was your favorite?

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I did. It is a powerful book and his description of his family living through the week and then having to make the 'big' decision at the end was very emotional.

    Any additional comments?

Don't dismiss his experience just because you don't believe in an afterlife of some sort. Something happened to him that cannot just be dismissed.

  • The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 31 mins)
    • By Edward Klein
    • Narrated By John McLain
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

It’s amateur hour at the White House. So says New York Times best-selling author Edward Klein in his political exposé The Amateur. Tapping into the public’s growing sentiment that President Obama is in over his head, The Amateur argues that Obama’s toxic combination of incompetence and arrogance has run our nation and his presidency off the rails.

Michael says: "Obama Fans Aren't Going to Like This Book!"
"Very important book. Incredibly well researched"
If you could sum up The Amateur in three words, what would they be?

    Interesting, revealing, necessary

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The depth of the research and the level of detail provided to back up the information.

If you could give The Amateur a new subtitle, what would it be?

    Why is he the president?

    Any additional comments?

This should be required listening/reading for everyone in this country, to the left or the right. We need to know what we've gotten ourselves into to avoid it happening EVERY again.
