What disappointed you about Down Home Murder?

As noted, I didn't listen to very much of this, but there were uncomfortable statements regarding African American hospital patients and the narrator seemed like she was just trying to get the hang of narrating.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Naughty in Nice - the next book in the Royal Spyness Series.

What didn’t you like about Gayle Hendrix’s performance?

She was very hesitant in her reading. Like she was just reading it aloud for the first time. Sentences that were definitive weren't spoken definitively.

As deputy sheriff of Mineral County, Colorado, Bill Tatum gets to ride a horse and wear a cool hat, but he never expected to find a dead woman in the hills, with a bullet hole in her temple. A reporter from the Rocky Mountain News, she had a journal that revealed secret affairs, political corruption, and a pending environmental disaster.

Shirley says: "Surprisingly I liked it."
    "Worth a listen"
    Overall

Although the dialog in the book was a little bit awkward and the narrator did sound older than the character, I genuinely enjoyed this audiobook. I even enjoyed it enough to bring my player into the house after my commute and listen with my headphones. The suspense is great, and the descriptions of the town are interesting. There could be a little bit more character development, but for a first novel, I'm impressed!
