From the author of the groundbreaking New York Times bestseller The Female Brain, here is the eagerly awaited follow-up book that demystifies the puzzling male brain.

Dr. Louann Brizendine, the founder of the first clinic in the country to study gender differences in brain, behavior, and hormones, turns her attention to the male brain, showing how, through every phase of life, the "male reality" is fundamentally different from the female one. Exploring the latest breakthroughs in male psychology and neurology with her trademark accessibility and candor, she reveals that the male brain:

*is a lean, mean, problem-solving machine. Faced with a personal problem, a man will use his analytical brain structures, not his emotional ones, to find a solution.

*thrives under competition, instinctively plays rough and is obsessed with rank and hierarchy.

*has an area for sexual pursuit that is 2.5 times larger than the female brain, consuming him with sexual fantasies about female body parts.

*experiences such a massive increase in testosterone at puberty that he perceive others' faces to be more aggressive.

The Male Brain finally overturns the stereotypes. Impeccably researched and at the cutting edge of scientific knowledge, this is a book that every man, and especially every woman bedeviled by a man, will need to own.

    Praise for The Female Brain:
"Louann Brizendine has done a great favor for every man who wants to understand the puzzling women in his life. A breezy and enlightening guide to women and a must-read for men."
—Daniel Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence

This book is full of science which may make it a hard slog for some people. But if you want the full understanding of the male brain then this is one of the best books on the topic. Becasue the author explains the changes to the male brain and biology over the course of life this book is also helpful to parents.

This is a well presented educational book. There is no 'interpretation' of science by the author, nor does it rely in 'questionable reseach'. Unfortunately for some people the facts presented in this book will be hard for them to confront. Particularly those who believe in such things as the blank slate, or that gender is only a social construct. It's also agenda free which is another refreshing thing about it.

Coping with anxiety via anxiety management can be effectively achieved if you understand what severe anxiety means and how it progresses. Anxiety disorders are labeled in various categories such as General Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), social phobias and panic attacks. Regardless of how anxiety is defined, short-term relief of anxiety symptoms, with the aid of proper anxiety management strategies, is entirely possible.

For the price and length this book is worth the purchase. It's quick and simple, and not full of fluff. Useful for those without the time for weighty books that would deal with the topics at much greater length.

This book may prove a struggle to stick with. Given the topics, the author has done well. There are a few annoying "look at this graph" references but you aren't completely lost without being able to see them. There are some little gems of useful information and some scary stuff too (for example, the chapter on passwords). Definitely not for everyone, but some unique information in this books makes it worth the buy.

We all want people to do stuff. Whether you want your customers to buy from you, vendors to give you a good deal, your employees to take more initiative, or your spouse to make dinner-a large amount of every day is about getting the people around you to do stuff. Instead of using your usual tactics that sometimes work and sometimes don't, what if you could harness the power of psychology and brain science to motivate people to do the stuff you want them to do - even getting people to want to do the stuff you want them to do?

No new material if you have read widely on this topic before, but the author does presents the information well. The presentation of 'strategies' is a good idea and helpful concept. Great book for those who don't know the topic or wish to have a concise review.

Once in a generation a woman comes along who changes everything. Tina Fey is not that woman, but she met that woman once and acted weird around her.

Before 30 Rock, Mean Girls, and 'Sarah Palin', Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.

Okay, so I was already a Tina Fey fan, but this book just made me a bigger fan. Even if you have the hard copy book, this audio book is worth the price just to hear Tina Fey read it.

This is a book about 10 "Great Ideas". Each chapter is an attempt to savor one idea that has been discovered by several of the world's civilizations - to question it in light of what we now know from scientific research, and to extract from it the lessons that still apply to our modern lives.

This is truely one of the best audiobooks I have listened to. It is not just a simple self-help book, it is also full of detailed (but interesting) explanations of the working of the human mind. Although long, it is an easy listen.
