Can't wait for the final instalment of the Cofru trilogy!!
The book is advertised as being read by Nigel Davenport, but the download gave me a recording of it by Christopher Timothy. He is still a wonderful reader of the story, but it may be a little surprising when you first begin the story if you're expecting to hear Davenport's voice.
Certainly not a problem overall and I highly recommend this series.
I decided to give this book a go based entierly on the narrater, my thinking being that with such a good narrator (seriously, who can resist that voice?) the story couldn't be too shabby... bad mistake! The story is shocking, with a ditsy 'heroine' who spends all her time gambling with other men to make her husband jealous and then whining to yet more men to help save her reputation when she is caught in a scandle (no romance scene by the way, wouldn't want to have anything actually interesting for the listeners)! Even Armitage's excelent narration wouldn't be enough to get me to listen to this book again.
Don't waste your time.
I would like to add my heartfelt recommendation to the growing list for this audiobook.
As a 19yr old who has been listening to audiobooks since she was 5, I can assure anyone thinking of purchasing this book that the quality of John Lee's narration is superb. And is quite in keeping with the quality of the story.
The language and descriptions in this book are delightfully rich and the story itself is a perfect mix of emotion, philosophy and rollicking adventure!
