I usually LOVE Burke Books (Jesus Out To Sea) but this one was full of torture. Really turned me off.
Absolutely. I love everything else of his I have read.
The voice sounds like an aging Cajun. Very appropriate.
Just couldn't get past the gore. Unnecessary suffering.
Read Jesus Out to Sea. One of the best collections of short stories I have ever read.
Brings back memories for my generation and teaches younger people about Civil Rights Movement, Cuban Missile Crisis and so much more.
Killing Lincoln is even better.
He is an excellent reader.
Those who do not learn from History are doomed to repeat it.
This is a charming account of modern day Chinese life, warts and all. Great reading for young and old. This should be required in schools. You can't go wrong with this one for yourself or as a gift.
I loved the movie so much I thought I wouldn't need to read the book. But I was wrong. The book is just different enough to make it very interesting. The characters are fascinating. Excellent book. Loved every minute of it.
I don't know what the narrator was thinking. She rushes through each story barely breathing. Must have had a time limit.
Based on the Count of Monte Cristo, this book is a little over the top but very entertaining. Fun characters and interesting plot twists.
I love this book. It is hard to find good science fiction. This is a terrific book about residents of different planets trying to get along and respect each others' laws. Really interesting. Part cop story, part lawyer, all Sci Fi.
I love this book. My family is Russian but this was a whole side of the revolution that I knew nothing about. I love historical novels that are well researched like this one.
I was really surprised to find that Louis was a great husband and a very decent human being. I became fascinated by other characters in the book such as his young granddaughter-in-law. This is a wonderful book for people who appreciate excellent research and strong characters who really lived. Just loved it!
If you loved "I, Claudius", you will love this. Although set 2000 years ago, it reminds me of my recent trip to the same area. Also, I love the British accents for Roman characters a la "Claudius." A fun read for history and mystery readers and for those planning a trip to Italy and Greece.
