Six years have passed since Jake Fisher watched Natalie, the love of his life, marry another man. Six years of hiding a broken heart by throwing himself into his career as a college professor. Six years of keeping his promise to leave Natalie alone, and six years of tortured dreams of her life with her new husband, Todd. But six years haven’t come close to extinguishing his feelings, and when Jake comes across Todd’s obituary, he can’t keep himself away from the funeral. There he gets the glimpse of Todd’s wife he’s hoping for...but she is not Natalie....

More like a bad young adult romance. The characters are much too simplistic, and the main characters "insights" fairly banal. Much too much made of a really very simple plot. I know Scott Brick is a favourite narrator for many - but I grew tired of his overly dramatic style. Too be fair, the novel seemed overly dramatic - so perhaps he was true to the material.....

The year is 1984 and the city is Tokyo.

A young woman named Aomame follows a taxi driver's enigmatic suggestion and begins to notice puzzling discrepancies in the world around her. She has entered, she realizes, a parallel existence, which she calls 1Q84 - "Q" is for "question mark". A world that bears a question....

After 8 hours of listening, I found nothing to convince me to go further. If even one character had seemed real to me I might have persevered, but the humans in this story were all unpalatable, distant and gave me no reason to root for any of them. Not caring whether any of them lived or died, loved or hated, laughed or cried - I stopped listening.

After a near-fatal head injury, Navy SEAL lieutenant Tom Paoletti catches a terrifying glimpse of an international terrorist in his New England hometown. When he calls for help, the Navy dismisses the danger as injury-induced imaginings. In a desperate effort to prevent disaster, Tom creates his own makeshift counterterrorist team, assembling his most loyal officers, two elderly war veterans, a couple of misfit teenagers, and Dr. Kelly Ashton - the sweet girl next door who has grown into a remarkable woman.

    "Bad Romance Novel"
    Overall

I listen to a least one audiobook a week - this is possibly the worst I have purchased. It should be categorized as a romance novel under the section "cheesy". With so many good and great reads - this was a disappointment.
