I totally loved this book that wove an amazing WW2 story around a young Jewish man needing to find a dozed eggs to save his life. The plot was full of unexpected twists and never let up. Narrator was fabulous.
I have listened to this book at least 4 times and have loved it more each time. It is rich with physiology, surprises in plot and a dark side that continues to captivate and delight me. The readers are excellent and this book is an overall delight. Highly recommended
This book is on my top ten list of great books. Not one person I have talked with did not love the story and the narrator is great.
I have been waiting for Ann Patchett to write another incredible novel since Bel Canto, and this was it. After finishing it I went to Bel Canto for another read and found it just as delicious as the first time.
I couldn't make it through this story as there was no redemption. If you want a great story of this point in history read Unbroken.
Listened to this book in one day because it was so riveting. The narrator was fabulous. What might seem like a depressing story turned out to be a story of redemption.
This was too dark and not redemptive enough. I suffered through it but wish I had just given up. The readers were fine but the story laborious and painful.
This is a compelling story written with authenticity and candor. It was almost impossible to imagine that this story was real yet it was. I would read this as fiction but as a biography it is totally amazing. This is a must read!!! You will be amazed and inspired.
Everything about this book I love. The writing is intelligent, the story gripping and the readers are perfect. I have read many books on my ipod but this is the first that has keep me up till 3 a.m. listening. There has not been one down moment, one dialogue I wish was written better or one plot twist that hasn't been perfect.
