  • The Lightning Thief: Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 1 min)
    • By Rick Riordan
    • Narrated By Jesse Bernstein

Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself.

    Teddy says: "Fun KIDS Book"
"Entertaining but not Twilight or Harry Potter"

I thought this was an entertaining story and something a little different however being dyslexic, I really didn't like the annoying misunderstanding of how dyslexic's read. It was really irritating to me. Also, this is a good book but not great, I loved the Twilight Series and Harry Potter.

  • Faithful Place: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 17 mins)
    • By Tana French
    • Narrated By Tim Gerard Reynolds
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

New York Times best-selling author Tana French has won the prestigious Edgar, Barry, Macavity, and Anthony awards. As her third novel featuring the Dublin Murder Squad opens, 19-year-old Frank Mackey is waiting in vain for Rosie, who he’s supposed to run away to London with. But when she doesn’t show, Frank leaves Dublin without her—thinking never to return.

    Buffalogal says: "Incredible"
"If you have a close family..."
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone that has a close family. Throughout this book I kept thinking, how could you just leave your family for 20 years. I found this extremely depressing and the story line was too predictable for me!

  • Predator

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 51 mins)
    • By Patricia Cornwell
    • Narrated By Kate Reading
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Dr. Kay Scarpetta, now freelancing with the National Forensic Academy in Florida, takes charge of a case that stretches from steamy Florida to snowbound Boston, one as unnerving as any she has ever faced. The teasing psychological clues lead Scarpetta and her team, Pete Marino, Benton Wesley, and Lucy Farinelli, to suspect that they are hunting someone with a cunning and malevolent mind whose secrets have kept them in the shadows, until now.

Babs says: "What's next? Scarpetta kidnapped by aliens?"
    "Um can you say terrible"

I'm sorry but can I just say that if you don't have a murder in the first two hours of the book, its not worth reading. This is terrible! Also, I am pretty open minded but I really don't need a book that details lesbian love scenes.

  • The Narrows: Harry Bosch Series, Book 10

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By Michael Connelly
    • Narrated By Len Cariou

FBI agent Rachel Walling finally gets the call she's dreaded for years: the one that tells her the Poet has returned. Years ago she worked on the famous case, tracking down the serial killer who wove lines of poetry into his hideous crimes. Rachel has never forgotten Robert Backus, the killer who called himself the Poet, and apparently he has not forgotten her either.

    Jon says: "Bosch again"
    "I thought it was OK??"

This book was pretty predictable. It wasn't really a who was the murderer as much as it was a step by step intro to murder 101. I would skip this one. Just a note that I have liked a lot of the other Bosch books!
